Blob crawler. Exceptionally good game design. Buy it now.

I do not have time / interest to write something detailed right now. Watch/read reviews elsewhere if you want but let me warn you that the youtube vids I watched before buying this failed to capture the FUCKING MAGIC of this game. I have played video games since the 1980s (mostly RPGs) and this is one of the best I have ever played.

The assets (graphics / sound) are fairly spartan but the game mechanics, the user interface, the story telling.. everything is so goddamn smooth! The people who designed this should teach game design to others.

This game and Operation Abyss* (trailer) are making me seriously consider getting a Vita.

* even though they fucked up the translation. Those are MALFORMS dammit, not "variants"!

You should. The Vita (Slim) is a fantastic console. The hardware and software (web browser etc.) are the best I have seen in the mobile console realm thus far and the game selection is already good enough to justify the purchase. One should also note that the Vita not only plays Vita games but also PSP and PS1 ones.

Yeah, the translation of Demon Gaze is not stellar either.

At last someone who sees the real potential of the console.

Ditto. I need some more stuff to validate my purchase.

I also really think I need to import that 64 gig memory card.

I have almost completed the game by now (captured all demons, have the demon slayer sword).. but then I ran into that horrible JRPG design standard: make the final fight(s) 10x harder than all other fights in the game. Same design decision prevented me from completing Luminous Arc 2 (the final boss is insane!). Fuck this shit. Well, no game is perfect. Still, this one is pretty fucking close.

Don't know about gameplay, but the art is fantastic. It caters to every single otaku fetish.

The last run is not really that hard compared to what you can encounter in other games. Now, I wouldn't make the same loop over and over looking for extra (useless..) gear but you should able to do it once at least.

Just finished this.. pretty good overall. It was also 60% off during the Easter sale!

My biggest complaint would be the ridiculous fanservice (it got eye-rollingly bad at times... yea I know it's supposed to be comic relief, but c'mon). On a gameplay level, I didn't like the sameyness of boss fights: pretty much all of the mid-to-endgame bosses could be defeated with very similar tactics (concentrate / bane on main character and physical damage dealer, devotion on paladin, holy shield on healer, multi-hit or divine weapon on wizard, layer on combat buffs in first 2 turns, make sure to recast force guard / whistle whenever the boss does a dispel or formation change). The demon summoning aspect is neat, but heavy on the RNG. I would've preferred a 6th party member, tbh.

It's still one of the better Wiz-style blobbers, and anyone who has a Vita should give it a whirl.

I haven't even played Demon Gaze yet, but apparently the guys behind DG are already releasing new dungeon crawler in June:

I'm surprised PC mustard race even knows what a console is outside of the console commands for hacking porn into their heavily modded Morrowind/Thief Gold game.

Nearly finished with this and need a bit of guidance. I beat the post game boss and got a final optional quest to get some of Fran's items that were lost. I already had all of them but one, Fran's Hair Clip. I'm assuming it's classified as a Hat and not a Helm so I'm grinding the first circle of God's Eden map using 2 Gold gems, 1 Hat gem and 1 Increase 1 gem and just restarting if I don't get it. At this point it's not a hard fight but a bit tedious. Anyone know if this is an effective method of getting the item to drop or if there are any better ways to do it?

Edit:
Managed to find it grinding the first 2 God's Eden circles using 1 Gold gem and 3 Nameless gems.

Played original on vita it was okayish blobber better than demon gaze 2. Think I will pass this one not enough added compared to the original that I would want to replay it.
