after all these paradox-threads here i decided to fire up vicky1 again. i'm playing the 1836 grand campaign and i'm now at 1915 and there's no Great War in sight...do i have to wait some more or is there simply no event chain to start it. would be weird considering vicky1 is part of the paradox-historical-accuracy-comes-first-games (in contrast to EU2 and its more flexible system...).
i'm playing with revolutions and VIP 0.4 (the newest) installed, but if there are events for vanilla (revolutions) VIP should be no problem...
codex for the rescue! here should be plenty of people who beat the game...

haven't played vicky 1, but from hoi/v2 it could be either that powers are fucked up (no reason to have great war), or you have simply bad luck. happened to me in v2 (which shouldn't be THAT different) that kwa civil war was about 15 years later.

IIRC there are no specific WWI events other than in the WWI scenario. There are generic Great Wars though and some nations get events pertaining the aftermath of the War (like Russia and revolution). But those dont usually make any sense when they happen anyway - game goes out of the track within the first 20 years, expecting anything to be the same after 80 years is wishful thinking.

From what I know VIP didnt manage to go up to WWI, event chains end about 1880 or 1890.

thanks for the answers....it's a shame, i waited all this time for the assassination of franz ferdiand to spice up the endgame. i don't think i can bring myself to play the last 20 years of keeping ahead of the UK...
