To preserve the LPs or not to, this is the question.

Should a forum for LP threads be created as to preserve the LP's for future reference?

This is serious business, no really, it would be a good idea to preserve the LPs. They are probably more helpful than a modern review when it comes to understanding a game's game-play experience.

Btw, the search function is a red headed bastard step child in this case. Having a direct connection to these vital resources would be optimal. Carry on...

Edit:

Plus, the LP threads give us all a reason to replay those classics and spend hours capturing the best moments via storyboard(screenshots). It's almost a multi-player experience because you get to play the games and share your experiences while others give you advice on how to continue.

I'm not opposed to this. Sounds like a good idea. I enjoy reading them (or most of them).

I was thinking that too, but something to preserve them, maybe even codex hosting the images? Maybe have a system that involves each LP having a poll to vote whether it gets stickied or not. Some democratic convention sounds good especially in the face of so many socialistic pirates around these parts.

Edit:

I wonder how accurate the poll would be if no one voted for kingcomrade?

Re-edit:

Fuck, maybe even promote certain posters to the LP status, kind of like a news poster, in which they have authority to host images do to their previous LP qualities. Would be a nice way to promote it, no?

A stickied thread with links to them all would be fine, I imagine. LPs are great, but they'll probably decline in popularity soon enough that a board dedicated to them would be useless. A page like this wouldn't go amiss, though, and with the current popularity of LPs across the internet, it's likely there'll be a free host for them popping up sometime.

Not enough of them to justify it. And really, most of them are just for the lulz. I do enjoy them though still.

No because LPs are a shitty waste of time with exactly one exception on RPG Codex, what's the fucking point in watching someone else play a game unless he has something particularly witty to say? That's why all of them died out except for that one.

I'll just forward the echo: I don't think there's enough of them to justify making a special place for all the LPs. A sticky could be useful, though. Just to keep track of all the fucking things. How long until the search function stops being a jerk?

There are a grand total of 5 LP threads over the last two pages of this forum. I see no need for a special forum.

Yes. Having the subforum with condensed LP content would be cool.

I don't agree that

, though. LPs are too corrupted by lulz to be able to convey gameplay experience.

Because we all know that nobody stretches the truth, hypes a feature or pads the score in a review.

My bad, I skimmed over 'modern' here and was comparing LPs to actual reviews rather than the ones that were known as 'advertisements' in more civilised times.

You have no respect for Codex traditions.

But really, I'm all for the sticky thread with links idea.

You have no respect for Codex traditions.

And you have no respect for originality.

I say all you LPers make your own webpage and circle jerk there. How's that for genius level brainstorming?
