If you're going to recommend a TES game, at least recommend the only good one in the series (Oblivion).
You're just not using the right mods.Besides, skyrim is shit because you can't date any of the dragons.
There is a lot of stuff on this list that's worse than DA:O.Dragon Age needs to go because it has more than enough name recognition, it might have people selecting that and ending up buying DA2 and worse too. It get's in the way of better purchases, it devalues the list.
Gaiz it's ok, I'm an Admin on the Curator page. I can fix this...
So if you're someone relatively new to cRPGs and you played and enjoyed DA:O and you look at a curation list of RPGs, you will probably look for games you've played. So lets say you played DA1 and 2, and you liked 1 but found 2 lacking. Then you see the codex list and see DA1 and not DA2. You'll realize these are games which you might like and try some of them on the list.
It was briefly, I bet you can still recommend it since it's the in the database. Our recommendation for DA:O specifically states that it's Bioware's last true RPG.
(Also, DA2 isn't on Steam)
I don't see why. DA:O sold roughly twice as many copies as BG2. A lot of people will have played basically only Bioware and Bethesda RPGs.What an incredibly particular situation.

The list isn't for people who obsessively follow all RPG news. They already know what they want. This is list is a public face of the codex. A "hey try these games if you like the other ones on the list".It's not that the game is so bad in itself (there are a lot of really stupid games...) as much as it is a symbol of decline. Decline being how you dumb things down to make it more "accessible", just like you have dumbed down the Codex Curation list to make it more "accessible" to newfags, by your own confession.
It's our way or the Watch way.

Also, I think DA:O as a symbol is a good reason to include it. It's the last RPG Bioware made that had party based tactical combat, and on top of that it was really a throwback after making NWN, KotOR, and Jade Empire. It was the first game they made in years that actually attempted to play something like an IE game.
To me the symbol is "this is the last time Bioware really tried to make an RPG instead of a cinematic experience".
It's safe to say that all routined gamers know what DA:O stands for, and know not to buy it. But by adding it to a list, you are slowly turning the wheels of decline. Soon we will have a generation of posters on the Codex who unironically think DA:O is a super awesome game and that DA2 should be added, we will have them influencing future decisions.
I understand your complaints, but I don't think DA:O is the game that's going to cause this.Sorry but no. "Bioware tried" doesn't exactly count as grounds for recommendation. Game either is good and worth recommending on it's own merits or it simply isn't. Question here is how low the bar you want to set? Are "we" going to start recommending just about any technically competent, mediocre game out there or are we going to be beacon of light, hope and incline and recommend things actually worth looking at? Because let's be honest while DA isn't horrible worst game ever it isn't anything more than mediocre. Is that what Codex wants to promote?
