MALE PRISONER
"Hey, you. You're finally out of stasis. You were trying to run that blockade, right? Flew right into that Federation patrol, just like us, and that smuggler over there."

lmao at the idea of DOS2 being in a "niche market"

we know from the steam sales data leak a few years back that the only rpg which beat it in terms of sales is witcher 3
Steamspy hasn't been allowed to reveal exact figures for quite some time now, but it's still good for ballpark estimates, and DOS2 has sold over 5 million copies on PC alone. This actually puts it in the same sales bracket of 5-10 million as Fallout 4, Skyrim and Dark Souls 3. The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk broke past the 10 million mark. Steamspy also indicates 20+ million for Elden Ring but idk if that's a weird figure or not.
That all depends on how you answer the next question.
What is a RPG?
Bad grammar, because it's AN RPG

is there any info if dismemberment system from fallout 4 will be in? cause lack of it would ruin it for more gore demanding and no way modders could fix that.

Why wouldn't it be in? They should add vats also. If not they are essentially shooting themselves in the foot. I really don't care what mechanic belongs to which game, everybody's calling it and it actually is fallout in space anyway.

well todd likes to cut content for one, second they use own physics so they have recode body parts i guess, third starfield felt pg13 as fuck they may go for less utlra violence approach which would be horrible.

but not as horrible as idea of puting vats in first person shooter, i just unbind that key so i can never use it in f4 and new vegas. if gets really hot there is always jet slow mo. lame and ruins immersion with 3rd person bs, btw hope ladder animation wont put u in 3rd person.

fallout lore was always heavy in space exploration theme i dont even mind some lore and style being transfered, much better than horrible homo deco style like new "prey" was. fallout even tho bit cartoonish is gritty and gory hope they wont go soft ass candy here, but they very well might cause size and softness of the ass that belongs to one of diveristy quotas cows they hired could hide all the stars in the sky if put in the close orbit.

I'm watching the 21Kiloton video. It's pretty good at killing any hype for this game. An anti-todd for the hype venom, one might say.

BTW I doubt people on the Codex buying and playing this traysh has any real impact. These games are consumed by normies who watch Asmongold etc.

How fucking dense are people in this thread that they can't figure out by using Steampsy I am obviously referring to Steam/PC sales and that Skyrim was a MULTI-PLATFORM GAME which sold most of its units on the Xbox 360.

You've just started to go down the deep rabbithole that is "weird, cult-like behavior of codex denying how well DOS2 sold", the further you go the more insane and rabid codex gets

To be fair, DOS2 is also a multi-platform game. It has releases for Windows, Mac, PS4, XBox1, Nintendo Switch and even iPad (this one was released last year).
I have no idea how much it sold in total, though.

a) Not that pertinent when you're comparing general target audiences, it can sell on Alexa for all the difference it makes.
b) I have no access to Steamspy, but keep in mind the infinite Skyrim re-releases are different apps.
c) Skyrim launched in 2011, DOS 2 in 2017, their release dates and targeted market segments will mean a very different retail-to-digital ratio.
d) Even on Steam alone, Skyrim is still today a higher top seller as either Special Edition and Anniversary Edition despite being twice as old as DOS 2.
e) The numbers I referenced earlier were partial figures off Wikipedia and you don't need to dig further because they make the point plenty already.

Bottom line is Swen's nü-cRPG formula is - for better or worse - very popular and very successful, but it's not the same market bracket as the game that has over the past decade come to - also for better or worse - define the very genre of "open world RPG" for general audiences. The statement made was that if Starfield is particularly shit, BG3 might outsell it, which is clearly not the case and what we were talking about.

Im not optimistic about Bethesda having talent to make it a good game without mods. So when thinking of realistic things I would like it to have it is quite a humble list.

1. Dont make life difficult for modders.

2. Dont have a main story with a sense of urgency.

3. Dont have a mandatory, unskippable 30 minutes long intro/tutorial.

4. If your writers are mediocre at best try to make simple stories and quests.

5. If you are putting settlement building in the game make it have a real purpose instead of being just a time waster.

Using Steamspy as source is dense.

Idc how much DOS and Skyrim sold lol

they are literally filth
correct but skyrim with porn mods can be good filth while other one is just filth.

btw i have just read your guide how to enjoy rpg. "dont save often advice" is the most retarded thing ever especially in beth game where u can encounter unfixable bug any moment that will ruin your progress since last save file and its recipe to ruin fucking any game as it only forces u to repeat what already have been accomplished like a retard instead going to unsolved problem bit.

the reason console trash have checkpoint systems (and often dont even allow to save manually) is cause console devs know console plebyers are braindead and dont treat anything as problem solving so they consider reverting to already done task as acceptable way to prolong "game" time.

frankly how often person (dosnt) save is negro indicator; ppl who dont save every couple min and cycle saves to avoid getting fucked by corrupted save/bugged game do not exhibit forward thinking/any logistics capability which beth games (can be) based on; u come in preparred and its preparation that may take more time than execution of task itself.

ofc u may come unpreparred and disregard saving progress on purpose but thats not embracing emergent gameplay in my book, thats being a nigger in a video game.

in short;
"save scumming" is just going back in time to fix errors (yours or game) which is whole point/advantage of simulation u own/run vs reality. by remaining with errors u made and not fixing them u learn nothing and u should get no satisfaction from it (u should feel horrible if u had not clean that vault in sierra madre). the only issue is if u take advantage of information that u should not have after reverting in time as problem solving is not about knowing, its about predicting.

planning should be the key for satisfaction in rpg or any complex game system, spontaneity is good for children, vaginas and jungle bunnies.
