:
Executor, our plan worked perfectly.
The Zerg defenses are broken, and the way to the Overmind is laid bare!
The time for our stand has come.
:
Indeed. My friends, this is our final hour.
Not all of us may survive the coming conflict.
Yet, death may be a blessing should we fail here.
We seek now to destroy a foe that has ravaged its way across the universe consuming all in its path.
And now it has reached the end of its long journey.
The Overmind has come to destroy all that we hold dear and assimilate us into itself.
And I say to thee, this shall not come to pass! Aiur shall not fall! Executor, I stand ready!
:
As do I.
:
Well, I guess all I have left is to see this through.
The Zerg have taken everything from me: my home, my family, my friends.
I know that nothing I do can bring those things back, but I'll be damned if I just sit on my hands and wait for the end.
I want a piece of 'em, all right. I'm in.
:
Then let our actions speak for us! For Adun! For Aiur!
So this is it. A final showdown with the Zerg. Aldaris finally is reasonable and wishes us good luck.
No luck Jim, apart from the moral support of course, which is always priceless. But at least we've got combined Protoss and Terran forces that we can unleash on the Zergs. While Terrans have a many minerals to gather, Protoss have mostly Vespene Gas. You need to balance between both of the factions. Before I start I need to really vent off and say that it was a fucking yuge battle. The difficulty spike is way higher than any mission before, and the Zerg are attacking almost constantly. And if you provoke them, then you better prepare you anus, there will be no lube! First thing first - Terrans need to defend themselves from upcoming raids, and Protoss should invest in Photon Cannons , and build a small fleet. You will be constantly attacked by Mutalisks / Guardians. Plus something extra that will be mentioned later on...
Jim has an advantage since Terrans can make most of the defences only with minerals. I'm making bunkers, Engineering Bay and Turrets for the beginner mode defence.
It's good to have Jim because the Guardians will start attacking your turrets and bunkers very often. Scaring them off and sacrificing some marines in the process is the only strategy for now. I'll need to make some Wraiths because they are very good for quick search and destroy tasks.
Protoss have also Zeratul and Dark Templars that can help with the ground attacks. Just don't let them wander of the safe spots.
I'm using the Comsat Station to randomly pick up the spots of the Red brood base. Judging from the size this will be a tough nut to crack.
Damn. Ultralisks attack. I need to start the tank production ASAP.
Meanwhile, Tassadar assists Scouts during the one of many Mutalisks raids. Terrans are preparing the ultimate combo - full squad of Wraiths, lots of Tanks (there are 3 open paths to our base, so it's good to divide them, but keep most of the force in the southern one).
This may look like a good defence grid, but we still need to be careful. Science Vessels are a must here. They will scout the area, and make Tanks more effective. They can also use Defense Matrix and Irradiate (which is great for a pack of flying units). Plus one more thing....
Ultralisks upgraded to the max, coming in a big packs to your base. This is why it's important to have a small fleet, especially for Protoss who is also constantly attacked via air.
I'm preparing the small force here. While I'm tempted, it would be a suicide. Zergs are producing Scourge in a huge numbers, and if you attack by air they will raid your position and finish them quickly. There is a minerals / Vespene Gas nearby and I made a second defence buffer since I'm making a base as well. While having both Protoss and Terrans has many advantages, you will need a lot of resources to be able to move onward in this mission.
I've made a mix here. Turrets are helping killing Queens, which will try to destroy Tanks via "Spawn Broodling" ability. They will also counterattack Overlords and Mutalisks. Scouts here will help with the Guardians. As you can see there is a safe air corridor which I'm using through the whole mission. Without that it would be a suicide to move with Protoss air units.
Keeping Science Vessel in that position is the best approach. The lower part with the Hive is stacked with burrowed Hydralisks. My Tanks are just keeping shooting and killing them but they just move on and on. They are still coming up the hill so be cautious. Plus of course he sends the Ultralisks and the whole flotilla all the time while being attacked. I need to be careful and keep Wraiths / Scouts on hold because they tend to behave like idiots and attack something solo in the middle of enemy base. My fucking nerves!
I've destroyed some buildings, while repairing and sending new Tanks that were destroyed. Making bunkers seems to be a good choice as well, since the attacks have stopped right now.
I move SCV's to new base. While initially I thought it was a good spot for Command Center, I had to move it really quickly. Ultralisks, Ultralisks never change.
While the western cliff is important, I used the northern spot as well to "shrink" the base of the red Brood. He is making new units non-stop, so destroying at least one sub-base and the Hive is a plus for me.
The violet Brood sends constantly Hydralisks via Overlords.
Here is much better place to set up the base. I've made the bunker on the left plus some tanks to deal with the Ultralisks. Sadly my Scouts are in tragic state, as I can't repair them as Wraiths.
Tassadar and a couple of other Carriers will be defending the Protoss base from now on. Later on they will be used for more active role.
I'm preparing a little raid after massacre of the Scourge and Mutalisks to finish off the northern part of the red Zerg base.
After quick raid on the Violet brood I quickly move backward. It's a yuge base, and he has Defilers which could really turn this whole thing into a massacre really quick. Abort, abort !
Phew, just in time. Eat this, you suicidal bats!
I still have some extra Vespene gas for repairs and units. Very good.
I'm moving outside the safe zone. This is a new perimeter. I'm constantly attack right now by the Violet brood with all they've got. I finally have some Battlecruiser little armada with Jim as a leader. Fuck yeah!
Combined Zerg forces are now attacking non stop with full force. I'm repairing the Battlecruisers and Tanks as quickly as possible but I know I need to move my ass or else I will loose this battle. Because I don't have any more mineral fields. What the hell I've done.
Tassadar and Carriers are irritiating the red brood. I quickly destroy as much as I can. In return he delivers to my base a pack of Ultralisks/Guardians/Mutalisks and Defilers. The Defilers turn most of my Photon Cannons into a junk that can be destroyed with a touch. Protoss base is smaller, and lost some units but I'm so short on minerals that I just want Zeratul and Tassadar to survive this whole thing. Nothing else.
After that I'm moving every flying unit on the North. It's do or die moment. All the Tanks that were defending the new base are moving on as well. It's now or never. Total WAR ! Tassadar mows through the south which is less crowded thanks to the Terrans moving in.
Suddenly everything stops, and we are being interrupted by Tassadar, who is fighting with his Carriers on the south part.
Tassadar at the end kills the Overmind sacrificing his own life. May Adun watch over you.
At the end I've got over 1000 kills, absolute madness with a constant attacks signals, building, repairing, and keeping the whole operation not falling apart. There were some great moments were there is a feeling of fighting a huge war with Hydralisks and Ultralisks just coming in a constant waves, one after another. Not to mention the huge Mutalisks swarms and Scourge, which will always put fear into me while I'm navigating with my air units. This mission is a perfect conclusion and it will make your blood boiling.
Thanks for all the brofists / parrots and see you next time!
