Malborn and the captive retreats into opposite directions. I'm on my own. Let's review whatever information we've recovered from the Thalmor embassy.

01.jpg

Delphine, the Blades contact is quite prolific.

02.jpg

03.jpg

Her background checks out. The next dossier is Esbern, the name that came out of the lips of the tortured captive.

04.jpg

05.jpg

An experts in dragons eh? I guess that means Delphine is wrong. The Thalmor is as clueless as any faction is on the return of the dragon. Someone else is behind it.

06.jpg

07.jpg

Riften is probably where Delphine will send me next. But I'm in no hurry to go.

08.jpg

This dossier caught my eye.

09.jpg

10.jpg

That's where my bet should lie in the civil war. The Empire's a giant without its head. I cut it off myself. Now it wants to destroy me in retaliation. I made of a mistake of not finishing the job in Solitude. Never again. It's time to head to Windhelm.

11.jpg

12.jpg

A familiar sight.

13.jpg

A single arrow.

14.jpg

A dead guard.

15.jpg

Dawnstar. I would like to rest in my Sanctuary.

However the moment I reached Dawnstar, I was given anything but rest.

16.jpg

For a dragon soars over its skies, threatening to devour everything in its path...

Dawn Star is saved, but not without cost.

02.jpg

Half a dozen guards lay dead, the town blacksmith, Rustleif did not make it.

03.jpg

A few brave miners paid the price as well.

04.jpg

The townsfolk were saddened upon realizing the couple owning the town smithy died that day.
Rustleif and Seren will be reunited in Sovngarde.

05.jpg

Cicero is dismissed and tasked with watching out for further dragon attacks. The townsfolk, although hesitant to accept the aid of the Dark Brotherhood realizes they don't have much of a choice. More than half of their garrison were wiped out in the attack.

06.jpg

I can't stay here. I signal the initiates to follow my lead and ride out into the snowy plains.

07.jpg

A dead guard.

08.jpg

A familiar sight in a familiar place.

09.jpg

I sneak away into the carriage taking me to Windhelm.

10.jpg

11.jpg

Ulfric. Helgen. Remember me?

12.jpg

He queries me on the intent of my visit.

13.jpg

14.jpg

15.jpg

16.jpg

17.jpg

18.jpg

19.jpg

20.jpg

21.jpg

22.jpg

Such a trivial task.

23.jpg

24.jpg

25.jpg

26.jpg

27.jpg

My vengeance will not wait.

28.jpg

The Empire's fate in Skyrim shall mirror that Ice Wraith's.

29.jpg

30.jpg

I've returned.

31.jpg

32.jpg

I don't see why I should delay. Ulfric nods in approval.

33.jpg

34.jpg

35.jpg

36.jpg

37.jpg

What's my next mission?

38.jpg

39.jpg

I'll see you there then.
As the figure left the presence of the two men, Ulfric was the first to speak.

"Heh. The Empire's made a big mistake of making an enemy out of her."
"What are you talking about?"

12.jpg

"Don't you see? She is no mere soldier.. nay, death and misery follows her every step. Keep her under a close watch, Galmar. I wish for a powerful ally but wary of even more powerful enemies."

Be sure to write

Nothing we couldn't handle.

02.jpg

03.jpg

04.jpg

Any message you wish to pass to him?

05.jpg

06.jpg

07.jpg

08.jpg

Jarl Ulfric Stormcloak asked me to deliver this axe to you.

09.jpg

10.jpg

11.jpg

"Prey waits," Irileth comments. The Jarl seems to agree.

12.jpg

13.jpg

14.jpg

15.jpg

16.jpg

17.jpg

18.jpg

19.jpg

20.jpg

I see, so the Jarl has refused Ulfric's offer and wishes to go to war. If Ulfric attacks, surely the Legion will not sit idly by and watch the Stormcloaks claim another hold.

21.jpg

22.jpg

23.jpg

24.jpg

25.jpg

26.jpg

Very well.

27.jpg

And a lot of blood to write with.

Jarl Balgruuf bends his knees.

02.jpg

03.jpg

It will take some time before Whiterun can recover from this attack and raise the banner of the Stormcloaks. A blow has been struck against the Imperial Legion. I bid farewell to the city and head straight to Riverwood to meet up with Delphine.

04.jpg

05.jpg

Only a name. Are you familiar with Esbern?

06.jpg

07.jpg

Why is this Esbern that important to them?

08.jpg

09.jpg

There was an informant pointing to his whereabouts in Riften.

10.jpg

Wait, before I go - tell me what happened to the Blades. How can you be the only Blades operative left in Skyrim?

11.jpg

12.jpg

I see. I'll make my way to Riften then.
I step out of the inn and instruct my Initiates to return to the Sanctuary. Their services are no longer required.

13.jpg

Riften
14.jpg

Been a while since I stepped foot into the city. I'm sure everything is alright.

15.jpg

I'm looking for an old man hiding out in the Ratway. Scholarly type. Seen him?

16.jpg

Thanks, Brynjolf.

17.jpg

The Thalmor got there before me. But I caught them off-guard and eliminated their search party without any trouble.
A heavily locked door matches Brynjolf's description of Esbern's hideout. I knock loudly. The door's that thick.

19.jpg

It's okay, Esbern. Delphine sent me.

20.jpg

Look, we need your help. The dragons are back.

21.jpg

A series of clicks sounded from behind the door. How many locks are there on the door?

22.jpg

23.jpg

Finally.

24.jpg

What do you mean, "it's hopeless"?

25.jpg

Figure out wat?

26.jpg

27.jpg

Alduin? The one that raised the others?

28.jpg

Why are you so sure he can't be stopped?

29.jpg

Esbern, it's not hopeless. *I* am a Dragonborn.

30.jpg

Just don't ask me to prove it by killing another dragon. I had enough of that shit.

31.jpg

Leave?

32.jpg

33.jpg

OK.

34.jpg

35.jpg

A few strays Thalmor lay in wait, but no match to Esbern's fireballs and my blade.

36.jpg

37.jpg

It's gonna smell a bit like fried elf tonight.
I informed Brynjolf to dispose of the bodies before hiring a carriage to take both of us to Whiterun.

38.jpg

The journey went without a hitch, and we arrive at the Sleeping Giant Inn.

01.jpg

02.jpg

No time for hugs. We have dragons to beat.
Delphine nods and leads us to the hideout.

03.jpg

04.jpg

What is this book?

06.jpg

05.jpg

07.jpg

08.jpg

09.jpg

10.jpg

11.jpg

What is Alduin's Wall, Esbern and why is it so important?

12.jpg

You mean they carved a guide to beating Alduin on a wall?

13.jpg

Where can I find it?

14.jpg

Damn, that area is crawling with Forsworn.

15.jpg

Then what are we waiting for? I'll go on ahead, hopefully you guys can catch up. See you at Karthspire.

16.jpg

17.jpg

18.jpg

My arrival was greeted by a sight of a large Forsworn encampment, right outside the entrance to the hidden Sky Temple.
As well as the already-familiar sounding flapping of giant wings. No time to hesitate.

The End of Dragonborn
01.jpg

Whose blood?

02.jpg

04.jpg

Alright. Just a drop.

05.jpg

06.jpg

07.jpg

08.jpg

09.jpg

10.jpg

Esbern's so excited, he nearly shat himself.

11.jpg

What greeted us was...a wall in a darkened chamber. I step closer to get a better look at the murals.

This is the mural on the right side of the wall.
12.jpg

This is the one of the left.
13.jpg

There's a dragon at the center.
14.jpg

Also, a smaller wall to the left of it.
15.jpg

Most impressive. Yet I cannot detect any Words of Power to absorb. I hide my disappointment from my comrades in arms.

16.jpg

17.jpg

Yes, but I still don't see how it'll help us to defeat Alduin.

18.jpg

19.jpg

20.jpg

The voice? Did it mention a shout?

21.jpg

22.jpg

23.jpg

Yes, Delphine. This matche my training with the Greybeards.

24.jpg

Honestly, no. But the Greybeards might know more. I've only been Dragonborn for a week.

25.jpg

You seem hesitant to involve them, why?

26.jpg

27.jpg

28.jpg

29.jpg

Don't worry. I am not afraid of using my power.

30.jpg

As I turn to leave for High Hrothgar, Esbern stopped me and offers a traditional blessing that members of the Blades were bestowed before heading out into their missions. It supposedly helped them to slay dragons. I accept.

31.jpg

Above the wall is a door leading outside, probably to the topside of the Sky Temple. I believe the view should be quite breathtaking, as well as providing me a with an avenue to feather-fall straight to Markath.

32.jpg

The heavy stone doors gave way to my push.

33.jpg

Would look a lot more beautiful in the morning, but it is quite serene in appearance. The air is completely still.
I step towards the edge.

34.jpg

Yes, I'll just jump down there after casting the spell and...

*Whoooosh*

35.jpg

What was that?

With a loud crash, the invader announces his arrival.

36.jpg

Oh shi-

This game's plot, specially the main quest, reminds me of Fallout 3 too much. Bethesda really lost the ability to write a non idiotic plot and premise for a game, with Morrowind being the last of their games not knee-deep in retardation. It is stupid both in its trying to hard at Epic concept and in execution, and all the Oglaf grade content still isn't enough to cover it up by drawing attention away from it.

This thread is almost as painful to read as DriacKin's Fallout 3 Let's Play, and even more after reading what the swath of usual apologists claimed in favor of Skyrim and comparing it to what I see here, even after that Requiem mod. Then I remember how you had to make a character seriously advance in combat/magical/thievery/assassination skills to gain ranks in Daggerfall guilds, that also were mutually exclusive, of the custom classes, of the spellmaker, of the amazing maze-like and randomly generated dungeons rather than totally linear and popamole dungeons, and I realize how low the Elder Scrolls series has gone over the years, even if the first two games had considerable flaws and bugs.

tl;dr The average porn movie has a better and more intelligent plot than Skyrim.

On the contrary, chap, bethesda is always consistent in their level of writings, which is crappy. Great world building, retard writing. from TES series to Fallout 3. I would suggest firing all of their writing department and start anew there, but i am afraid it's something in the company's culture.

Fuck Fate

I survived.

01.jpg

But I ended up on the wrong road if I wanted to catch a carriage to Markath.
And running back towards a dragon is about is not a good idea.
That forsworn's camp is fucked. Time to head to Whiterun on foot..

02.jpg

Almost there. It's morning and a dragon greets me just over the horizon.

03.jpg

It didn't notice me. I pass by a small giant encampment and resisted the urge to seize an easy kill.

04.jpg

This tree is quite pretty.

05.jpg

The sight of the ruined guard tower indicates that I'm very close to Whiterun.
I wonder how's it doing under the Stormcloak's rule?

06.jpg

07.jpg

10.jpg

11.jpg

Not too badly it seems. The city seems quieter, but no time to ponder about that, I need to head to High Hrothgar. I return home and signal for the rest of my Battle-Sisters to follow me.

09.jpg

12.jpg

It's time to learn the Dragonrend.
I took a carriage to Windhelm to report to Jarl Ulfric.

13.jpg

14.jpg

I promise I'll look into it, but for now, the priority is stopping the dragons and Alduin himself.

15.jpg

When questioned about the Dragonrend, Arngeir reacted negatively.

16.jpg

"It was recorded on Alduin's Wall."

17.jpg

18.jpg

"Arngeir, the Blades and I just want to defeat Alduin. Don't you?"

19.jpg

20.jpg

I can't believe what he's saying.

21.jpg

22.jpg

"But Skyrim needs our help! I can't just stand idly by and watch Alduin destroy everything. Arngeir, aren't you going to help?"

23.jpg

He rose from his seat with a look of disdain on his face.
What is this display of ignorance on the face of danger?
What was all this learning and training for, if it wasn't to stop Alduin?
What is the point of being Dragonborn?

Battle at the Reach

My conversation with the dragon ended.

01.jpg

02.jpg

Parthunax soars to the sky, leaving me behind with a task.
Retrieve The Elder Scroll, return back in time, and learn the Dragonrend.

03.jpg

I descend with the Featherfall spell to reunite with my battle-sisters.

04.jpg

As we arrive at Windhelm to board the carriage, a courier ran up to me.

05.jpg

Hm.

06.jpg

I remember him. It appears the alchemist's apprentice did not give up his master's dream of the White Phial. I suppose there is no harm in speaking with him.

07.jpg

The first ingredient to the White Vial involves Briarheart, a rare reagent that has to be harvested fresh from a living forsworn chief.

08.jpg

We board the carriage to Markath and head straight to the Forsworn Camp at Karthspire.
However, we're not the only ones attacking the encampment.

Death in the Reach

Victory. Another threat to Skyrim neutralized. The battlefield grew quiet.

01.jpg

02.jpg

Uthgerd is missing.

03.jpg

Damn.

04.jpg

This detour has cost us an ally.

09.jpg

10.jpg

You're right.

11.jpg

12.jpg

I harvested his heart and rode out of the camp.

08.jpg

13.jpg

14.jpg

"Where to now, Dragonborn?" Mjoll asks, noticing my downcast expression.

15.jpg

Markath. I know an ally there.

The Elder Scrolls

The College of Mages, Winterhold

00.jpg

The Elder Scroll. It's a long shot, but the College of Mages should have some answer to finding one.

01.jpg

02.jpg

One of the instructor spotted me and beckons me to come closer. Seems like he really wants me to finish the class.
I nod and told him skip theories, go straight to practical magic.

03.jpg

04.jpg

05.jpg

06.jpg

No problem.

07.jpg

08.jpg

09.jpg

Perhaps I'll join in later Tolfdir, I have to check on something at the library.
Although I suspect the keeper of lore would balk at such a request.

10.jpg

Look, I know the Elder Scroll isn't here but if there's any book we can check - any references?
He nods and tells me to wait.

11.jpg

Time passes...

12.jpg

13.jpg

He brought back two books. I flip through the first one. "The Effects of Elder Scrolls"

14.jpg

15.jpg

16.jpg

17.jpg

18.jpg

19.jpg

20.jpg

21.jpg

Well that's not much use, how about the second book?

22.jpg

23.jpg

24.jpg

25.jpg

This is fucking prosperous. Librarian, what is this shit?

26.jpg

27.jpg

Is he alive?

28.jpg

Last known whereabouts?

29.jpg

What is he doing there? A College-sponsored expedition?

30.jpg

31.jpg

Doesn't matter. Mark it on my map. Sisters, we're leaving.

Crazy bum better be still alive. The icy cavern holds a massive cube, a lone figure is studying it intensely.

02.jpg

Look, cut the crap. Where can I get an Elder Scroll?

03.jpg

Oh, really?

04.jpg

No problem, Sept. Just tell me where to go and I'll get it.

05.jpg

...seriously?

06.jpg

07.jpg

How about somewhere specific? Here, I show you my map. Point it out.

08.jpg

Sigh. What do you want? A blowjob? A three some? Foursome?

10.jpg

11.jpg

Wow, glad I'm not you.

12.jpg

13.jpg

...you're saying I should head to Blackreach?

14.jpg

No. Not really.

15.jpg

16.jpg

17.jpg

18.jpg

So Septimus will have to hand over the key to loosen the lock, am I right?

19.jpg

...Mmm... round...edgy...

20.jpg

26.jpg

Okay?

21.jpg

27.jpg

Alright, I don't quite understand what you want. But I'll head to Blackreach. I'm sure I can figure it out once we get there.

22.jpg

The Scroll? As in the ELDER Scroll?

23.jpg

24.jpg

I don't know what to think.

25.jpg

It's time to leave Winterhold.

28.jpg

Blackreach awaits.

Task of the Blue Ball

01.jpg

That's it. We beat the Blackreach. The Elder Scroll is in my pack. I resist the urge to take a peek.

02.jpg

But before I return to Parthunax, I decide to return to Septimus to hand over his cube. A deal's a deal.

03.jpg

04.jpg

05.jpg

See what?

06.jpg

That's great, any idea how to open it?

07.jpg

08.jpg

09.jpg

You're a little unhinged aren't you?

10.jpg

What are you talking about? You want me to collect the blood off these 'races'? Why are so eager to open this box anyway?

11.jpg

Right, and I have the Elder Scroll.

12.jpg

13.jpg

Nerevar- I don't get you, who is your lord? Why do you trust him?

14.jpg

15.jpg

16.jpg

17.jpg

Huh.

18.jpg

Well. That's the last time I'm going to speak to him. No way I'm gathering all that blood.

19.jpg

Daedric prince or not.
I make my way out of the cave. But that's when I noticed there is a presence blocking the exit.

Time to make my way back to civilization. Collecting those blood will take time. I think I should make a stop at the College to pick up some mage gears.

Later...
Hi, I'm here to make a purch-

03.jpg

..show me your wares.

02.jpg

This place is a madhouse.

05.jpg

Experimenting with the recovered Crimson Nirnroot from the Blackreach reveals it has identical property as a regular nirnroot except its effect is amplified.

04.jpg

I learned a lot. Time to apply it. I step out of the College and set off for Tolfdir's expedition.

06.jpg

07.jpg

08.jpg

Huh. Mount Anthor huh. Maybe later.

09.jpg

That's the ruins. Tolfdir should be waiting there with the rest of the students.

10.jpg

Ready. Let's go.

11.jpg

12.jpg

I let the rest of my companions stay behind.

13.jpg

14.jpg

15.jpg

Shouldn't be a big problem going alone. I'm quite adept at spellcasting by now.

16.jpg

17.jpg

No signs of any monsters so far.

18.jpg

I snatched an amulet from a niche on the wall. Only to hear a loud clank behind me.

19.jpg

I'm trapped in this room.

20.jpg

Hey, I'm trapped here.

21.jpg

I grabbed an amulet off the wall when it happened.

22.jpg

Huh, I put it on.

23.jpg

Maybe... if I blast it?

24.jpg

Wow. There's a secret passage?

25.jpg

26.jpg

Maybe it's hidden because it's danger-

ous?

Dragonborn do this, Dragonborn do that
So, once again the Dragonborn stumbles upon a mysterious artifact of unknown power. And it's up to the College of Winterhold Dragonborn to unravel the mystery of this artifact.

01.jpg

Tolfdir commemorates his finding with a well-deserved shat.
Another part of the ruins interest me...

02.jpg

A word of power.

03.jpg

Ice Form encases opponents in ice, but renders them nearly impervious to damage. I don't think this is very useful due to the maximum force of Fus Roh Dah capable of dealing damage AND knocking most targets down.

Time to report our findings to the guild.

04.jpg

05.jpg

So much left to explore in the Pale, but we have no time for it.

Later,
Archmage Quarters, College of Winterhold
06.jpg

07.jpg

Nothing of the sort, Master Aren. But we've found something in Saarthal, and Instructor Tolfdir thinks it's important.

08.jpg

09.jpg

Yes, sir.

10.jpg

What do you wish me do?

11.jpg

12.jpg

Thank you, sir. Have you heard of the Psijic Order?

13.jpg

14.jpg

Alright, I'm off to the library then.

15.jpg

You could say that, can I have those books?

16.jpg

Who is this Orthorn?

Doesn't anyone give a damn about theft from the College?

21.jpg

22.jpg

Damn it. I guess I'll find this s'wit and deal with him myself.
I turn to leave the College, only to run into an anxious looking Thalmor.

23.jpg

24.jpg

Maybe...

25.jpg

26.jpg

Why does it even concern you?

27.jpg

28.jpg

Well, you just answered your own question then. Anything else you want?

29.jpg

Damn Thalmors always get into other people's affairs...
I head out of the college and decided to postpone the College's assignment. I have an appointment to keep with Parthunax.

Would've gone a lot faster if our horses weren't missing when we returned to Winterhold.
I think we left them behind at Alfland. But whatever.

A little bit of combat is good for practice.

03.jpg

Looks like a Falmer cave. Time to collect some blood.

One down.

07.jpg

A necromancer?

08.jpg

09.jpg

Mmmm. This is too easy.

10.jpg

11.jpg

Sorry.

12.jpg

13.jpg

All that's left is some Orcish and Wood Elf's blood.

14.jpg

There's Windhelm.

A night's rest before we set forth to High Hrothgar.

Legendary Speech

Today I'm going to demonstrate a strange little feature called 'Legendary Skill'

01.jpg

Whenever a skill reaches 100, you are given the opportunity to 'reset' with one major advantage: the invested perks are given back to you.

02.jpg

Although the reset skill is weak, you have to remember that raising them back will let you level up again and earn more perk points. And that's how I migrated all my perks from Speechcraft into Destruction-

03.jpg

04.jpg

All elemental spells does 25% more damage.
-and Alchemy.

05.jpg

Herbalism is a really good pick for quick skill raises. Raw materials aren't rare but doubling harvests is noticeable when you sweep a wheat farm or a cave full of mushrooms.

06.jpg

Adding more damage to potion seems silly, but this perk is just a gateway to better perk.

07.jpg

Four applications per dose is worth it. Some deadly poison components are rare (nirnroot) and the damage they deal is upwards of 100. Quadruple that, and most big targets would drop. I haven't noticed a big difference vs Dragons. But I still like this perk.

And finally.

08.jpg

A flat 20% bonus to both elixir and venom potency is too good to miss.
Also, my destruction skill has reached a certain point that new spells have become available from stores.

09.jpg

Too many to list, but most are just too mana-intensive without perks to lessen the cost.

10.jpg

Fire Cloak gives a good resistance vs Frost while dealing fire damage to nearby targets. There's also Ice Cloak and Lightning Cloak Etc.

11.jpg

And with that, we make way to High Hrothgar.

12.jpg

13.jpg

Hey look, an orc.

14.jpg

Another blood down. Just Wood Elf left.

15.jpg

With the Elder Scroll in hand, I begin the climb..
