mang I did some googling and turns out chest and greaves are now combined so the pants don't look weird
I see. I don't know how it could look weird though, armor in Skyrim doesn't look very colorful.

I don't want to see boxes and manuals go away I like getting real goodies.

That being said with the current generation of games im not sure I care. You don't need manuals to play todays games and they never put any world lore or story in them anyway...todays kids don't like to read.

The guy who figured out how much money they could save on ink and paper by cutting out game mechanics must be a fucking millionaire.

It's called saving the environment, mang.

The power is yours!

How many pages does a manual need to say "Press A to Attack"?
around 17.
two pages of company logos, one for epilepsy warning and disclaimers, one page for the toc, two pages of pretty pictures, one page saying "press a to attack", and around ten pages of credits.

Trouble with manuals is companies seem to be in the habit of not updating them as they develop the game. The manual for witcher 2 for example has different names for 2 of the bombs and the talents are different to the actual game.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't hesitate to cut the innards out of anyone I'd catch looking wrongly at the outer wall of the place where I keep my Arcanum manual, but these things are hardly needed for PC games anymore. A pdf or a wiki does the trick just as nicely.

Menus look like JRPG shit.

One of the few things Oblivion did well was the menu. It was a book/journal that felt like it was in the world.

Immersion!

:decline: from Oblivion.

No, Oblivion had retarded GUI as well. Don't be mistaken.
