I didn't notice much of a difference in gameplay when I increased ranks in ME2 either, bloodlines and risen are better examples of this, where almost every invested point lets you do something new.

The hilarious thing about this is that the "simplification" was touted as one of the good parts of ME2.

They basically took their own bragging point and then claimed you weren't allowed to dislike it for the same reason some people did like it.

"Why is this good?"
"Well, it's simplified."
"So it's simplified?"
"WHAT NO, NO, NOT AT ALL! JUST...EVERYTHING ELSE IS TOO COMPLEX! THAT'S IT!"
