I mean the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series by KOEI.

I love that kind of strategy game. You don't have to micromanage everything (though you can if you want) or keep watch on how many units of wood you have but can delegate authority to different people. Basically personel management, recruiting the right people, promoting them, keeping their loyalty, seeing your lieutenants develop or age, establishing dynasties etc.

I've never seen this outside of the KOEI games (eg Genghis Khan, Nobonuchi etc) and it seems more of an Asian concept. There are a few games where you can delegate control but it's just a way to reduce player complexity overload instead of a necessity and it's always better (due to AI and mechanics) to control everything yourself if you can. Am I wrong?
