Well, this is kind of moot since nobody can like Interplay anymore. They don't even really exist. Just another facet of Titus.

Well, it's kind of hard to compare, being that Troika has only released one game. A great game, though, so they're one-for-one in my book, but then again Interplay has "brought" us Fallout 1 & 2. Though, if I understand correctly, Troika is a...uh,er... "studio," whereas Interplay is a "publisher." So it's sort of like comparing Stanley Kubrik to 20th Century Fox. But, perhaps I'm wrong about the studio vs. publisher thing...

I would like to emphasize, however, Troika is solidly one-for-one with the great, underappreciated Arcanum.

Anyone know what's next on Troika's plate?

Troika's working on two projects, both CRPGs. One is a turn based, high fantasy CRPG and the other is a real time, sci-fi CRPG.

Troika's team were the ones who made Fallout, so I'd give them credit for that. They started the design for Fallout 2 before leaving, and really.. BIS could have used their hand holding through that process since Fallout 2 was just a pale shadow of Fallout.

Saint, tell me, which one of those two projects are Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky working on? And have they said when they might decide to announce these games?

Well, I'm not Saint.
But I think Tim is working on the high fantasy one, while Boyarsky is working on the sci-fi one.

Thanks. Come to think of it, I remember hearing Saint saying that Tim Cain was doing a high-fantasy RPG since he had never done one before.

Any word on a publisher? Are they still with Sierra?

No, Jason Anderson is doing the sci-fi one.

No word on the publisher though. They're making everyone wait until January for that kind of news.

Let's see...

Interplay gave me Fallout, Fallout 2 and Planescape Torment.

Troika gave me Bloodlines.

Interplay wins by the number of games I enjoyed. But the poll isn't really fair, since Interplay is a publisher, Troika was a developer.

I would have loved to see more of Troika than just three games. Unoriginal, I know.

But since this is gravedigging, I guess I should have strayed off topic for the lulz of it and said: "What is an RPG? Discuss!"

And may Troika Games stay dead where it belongs.

Yeah, it'd be pretty terrible if they kept making games that people enjoyed. Whatever would you do?

I presume he meant a situation where Bethesda is buying the rights to Arcanum.

"since Interplay is a publisher,"

They're also a developer. They developed the FOs, and BIS which *was* Interplay developed IWD series, and PST.

It went from least to most important. It was fine the way it was.
