A playable release of Abaddon: Fallen Angel has been released. The game is still in heavy development, but this should give you a taste of what to expect.

Here's a bit on the forward about the game:

Welcome to the page for my Post-Apocalyptic Future-Past CRPG epic ABADDON. By Future-Past, a succint definition invented by my brother, I mean a future where technology has regressed back to the stage of most Fantasy worlds, instead of magic you have high technology. This setting has been explored in Tabletop RPGs, Gamma World being the most famous, Cartoons, Thundarr the Barbarian, Books, such as "A Canticle for Liebowitz" and "The Roadmakers", Movies "Planet of the Apes", "A Boy and His Dog", "Logan's Run", and to a certain extent, the "Mad Max" movies, CRPGs "Fallout" and "Wasteland", and my personal favorite, Anime "Akira" and "Battle Angel Alita".

Sounded nice until I hit the word anime. Did I mention I hate anime? Because I do.

I think anime style is sometimes nice for portraits (I use some custom ones for other games), but the game world graphics look like a bunch of megaman people with crazy hair.

Bah y'all suck, anime haters! I bet none of you have even watched any, or that you would know what anime is if it bit you in the ass.

Cartoons in general rock, as does much anime, seeing how there are several that have mature themes and discourses that really are mature, as well as being visually appealing.
The problem with you folks is I believe you eqaute anime with Final Fantasy and Japanese rpg games, which is quite incorrect. Anime is a style of art, parcticularly animated shows and movies.

I suggest Ninja Scroll and Akira as the start of you're education, and then progress from there(other suggestions would be Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell). Essays will be due in one month, and there will be a pop quiz on Friday so start preparing.

I'm not a lover of manga . but Akira and Ghost in the Shell are rather good movies nonwithstanding - and there was that vampire shortie I liked, by the people behind the FF movie I think.

But JRPGs - no thanks.

I've seen Cowboy Bebop. It's really not my cup of tea. I've never seen an anime that made me feel epic. Or maybe I've just set my standards too high.

*goes off to watch Lawrence of Arabia again*

The state of insanity.
Okay. First off, I hated Akira, and Ghost In The Shell was a joke compared to the actual manga it was based off of. I really don't care for that kind of anime in the first place. Ninja Scroll is definitely a good one to go with, but my personal favorite anime of all times is the Record Of Lodoss War saga. Yeah, it's typical DnD fantasy fare, but it fucking rocks. The fight with the dragon in episode 1 is enough to let you know you're in for a treat. Grand and epic with a soundtrack to match. And you can get the entire series on DVD for around $50 now.

Another good one to check out would be Nausicaa And The Valley Of The Wind, but Record Of Lodoss War blows all other anime away IMHO.
