What a hot and slick opinion in 2018 after Disney burnt it to the ground in weeks. Next you're gonna say that Game of Thrones isnt that good of an adaptation. lmao

I think the original trilogy is p. garbage too. Plus I resent how Lord of the Rings and Star Wars are always associated together when one is a creation with an underlying ethics and philosophy while other is your run-off-the-mill American take on monomyth. In fact it's very fitting that Bioware did KOTOR since Star Wars and Bioware operate on same artistic vision of creativity.

However the prequels and the recent media storm of course sealed the deal, transcending Star Wars from a merely overrated sci-fi adventure to a full blown travesty of modern consumerism.

Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire release delayed a month

Obsidian's new but old fashioned role-playing game Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire has been delayed a month on PC. Rather than come out 3rd April it will now be released 8th May.

"We know you're as excited as we are about the upcoming launch of Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire," said Obsidian in a statement. "As you have probably guessed, Deadfire is a huge game - significantly larger than the original Pillars of Eternity. Obsidian has been working harder than Abydon himself to make every inch of it awesome, as well as incorporating all the great feedback we have been getting from everyone playing the backer beta.

"With this in mind, we are taking just a few extra weeks to polish and put those finishing touches on the game."

As expected, if they released this mess in 2 weeks it would be a complete disaster, this extra month will not save it from getting scuttled in the end. Dumpsterfire cannot be put out without being sunk. Explains why the producer jumped the ship too as this catastrophe couldn't be delivered on schedule.

In keeping with the naval theme, I give you a visual representation of the current state of Deadfire's development (if you look closely, you can spot Katrina Garsten in one of the rescue boats):

Lol, I'm halting the embargo. I'll reinstate it on April 8th then.

"With this in mind, we are taking just a few extra weeks to work our asses off to make it playable at least for the majority of people who don't give a damn about how the game's rules actually work (and are proud of it)."

We are having a literal rerun of PoE's development, where it got postponed (twice) and in the end it was released in a "functionally, it works!(tm)" state.

Mark my words, the game will come out on the 8th and will still be just as half-baked as PoE was at release.

I was hoping right until the end that the years of experience will lead to a better managed dev cycle for the sequel.

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
Good. I haven't finished my canon POE1 plathrough anyway, and maybe we'll actually get to try out the latest mechanics changes in the beta before they just ship it. :P

Good, they need more time to test the next beta patch. 2 weeks to test it was not nearly enough time. Unless they changed something, the next patch should include individual feats and change resolve.

Good. Give it half a year more and it may actually turn out decent at launch.
Maybe the beta testing will do some good after all.

Meanwhile I will have time to finish my PoE1 cannon run.

Delaying only for a month is a bad sign for a game that sized. What can you fix in 4 more weeks? There was still 3 week time... It's clear that it is not about a specific game breaking bug. It's about the bug percentage isn't passable and not much you can change in 4 weeks to change that drastically. Expecting extreme level of bugs now.

Well it's about the amount of time you need to let the community playtest another beta release.

Hopefully it gets delayed again, August release sounds about right.

Gotta tune the Resolve lottery just right, +3% Empower per point might not be enough, rigorous testing is needed to tell if 3.5% if a better fit.
