First Bobby, now Pete. Feargus must be sweating. Brian isn't safe, either.
They are all white, middle aged men. There's no place for them in the Woke New World.
There's no place for ageing middle-aged hacks who probably never had any talent in the first place, that's for damn sure

Pete Hines can go jump off a tall cliff for all I care

This is such a retarded take. It's fine to hate Hines, but that guy was undoubtedly extremely skilled at marketing and really helped push Bethsoft's business into what it became.

I always got uncanny valley feeling from his smile.
It's like he was a victim of facial reconstruction accident. Or angered a bunch of bees.

This fucking smile, man :prosper:
You're watching a psychopath trying to mimic human emotions.

Serious question: Has Bethesda ever made a good game?
Answer: No.

That which was never inclined can never decline. This is just a bowel movement of fecal matter changing its position within the coordinate system of the universe.

Todd will self-inject into the Creation Engine and produce masterpieces of which mortal like us aren't worthy to even contemplate
Indeed, his works will be so revolutionary and unique that calling them videogames will be a delusional insult
They will be True RPG's - as reactive and free as a p&p session, yet more complex and autistic than even something like Dwarf Fortress
And in the end only he will remain

Pete was a competent marketing guy and his work was part of the reason Bethseda managed to generate such hype in the PS3/360 days
Don't think he held any significant influence over the actual game design process...
So if anything Beth would've been better off, if it had been Emil Pagliarulo that decided to quit since the lack of a competent senior writter has been a major problem in every Beth game since Oblivion

Not many people remember the PR of old Bethesda. The truth is, back in the day Pete Hines was the one who was considered the protogenic liar in Bethesda, not Todd. Todd took lessons from him.

Two scumbags who ruined creativity in any case.

That's not how I remember it. Pete was always an abrasive asshole, while Todd mastered the art of lying in a way that made people love him. I honestly dunno how Pete ever got so high up in marketing, he sucked at it. The most memorable Pete-isms were all insulting the customer.

Didn't Emil also work on Thief 2:The Metal Age?
I remember he designed some missions for the game, including "Life of the Party".

It's one thing to design levels
It another thing entirely to write story campgains
He might be good at the former, but he has proven he shouldn't be responsible for the latter
In fact considering he was one of the main designers responsible for the Arena and Dark Brotherhood quests, it's clear his talents lie more in level design and coming up with cool ideas for quests

I am not disagreeing with you.
Yes, it would seem his skills lay more in the field of level design.

Pete made a lot of money off the Microsoft buyout. He's retiring because he doesn't want to work any more, but also because Microsoft -- with their acquisition of Acti-Blizz now all but complete -- is likely going to start reducing headcount. It is not a coincidence that he is announcing this now, a few days after the MSFT/Acti-Blizz merger is a done deal.

He earned it, and he's part of the reason why Bethesda was attractive to Microsoft in the first place. He's going out on top, with a fat wallet.

"Pete Hines is a developer who previously served as senior vice president of global marketing & communications, as well as the head of publishing, at Bethesda Softworks. He was in charge of public relations and marketing of games published by Bethesda, and was credited on Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. "
He's a marketing guy, who cares? Did he had influence on the games themselves?

given that marketing influenced F2 pretty substantially, and that Beth is a much larger financial entity with more $$$ riding on their games, I would say:

hell yeah he did, and for the worse i'm sure.
