Game sounds kinda interesting but it will probably be a mediocre mishmash of gameplay elements that are half broken, alongside Obisidian's horribly overrated writing.

Geralt uses a special pheromone spray. There's alchemy in the game for a reason, you know.

HAHA  I can't help but wonder if there will be any other "perfumes" from that company, especially of some fetishes most people would find uh.. distasteful.

Yes, they are adding two invigorating new fragrances, Eighteen and Exotic.

Good Point Lestat, on the girlie thing. I have to admit, a CRPG that's not Sci Fi or Fantasy- now that's a fucking miracle.

True, but combat isn't everything.
I am not sure about that.

If combat situations are rare in the first place, then bad combat is not a problem. I forgived Bloodlines' bad combat because as a Nosferatu or Malkavian, you could still skip 90% of the combat situations with Obfuscate.

But if combat situations are moderately frequent, then bad combat is indeed a game killer. It will kill the fun from the game, even if dialogue is otherwise interesting. For me atleast.

Tentatively looking forward to this. Way too early to judge anything, obviously. I'm hoping for melodrama, ludicrous action, quip-filled dialog, and globe-spanning conspiracies . . . a summer action movie in an RPG. It won't be MOTB or PS:T, but I hope it will be fun.

-Lots of girls and romance subplots. You'll meet tons of different girls on missions and yes you can bag them all.

Oh gawd.

Anyways, sounds interesting.

Just rewatch From Russia with Love.

Romanova: The mechanism is... Oh James, James... Will you make love to me all the time in England?
Bond: Day and night. Go on about the mechanism.

Pure cliche. However I can't help but chuckle when I see that in a James Bond movie and continue watching with pleasure.
Some subtle parody of this genre and a dose of intelligent autoirony could make this game very enjoyable.

That's what I'm hoping for, and I'm setting my hopes pretty high. Games made by Obsidian tend to be great at the humor department, with T3-M4's "[Persuade] Beep dee-reet." being one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen in a computer game.

Do your homework. There is a PS 2 version of Deus Ex. Releasing a game on consoles doesn't automatically mean dumbing down on all levels .

Uh huh. There is quite a difference between releasing a console version about 2 years after the initial pc release and developing a game with the consoles primarily in mind you dumbass. Civilization series and HL have been released to the consoles too. Does that make them console games?

"Action orientated gameplay" and "premade character" says enough about the game and "You'll meet tons of different girls on missions and yes you can bag them all" a lot about the target audience/age group is targeted for. I wonder what happened to the maturity/complexity Obsidian fanboys loved to advocate as a key component of Obsidian's appeal.

"For some reason, I was at first positive I was reading a Volourn post."

Except, I know that they aren't using the ME 'engine'. And, I love porno in games. R00fles!

P.S. Shepard says more than 3 words at a time. In fact, he speak entire sentences. Dumbasses. Did you guys even play the game? L0L

Except I have already admitted my mistake. But your comment would be well-time only several hours ago.

The Witcher? Torment?

Depends on how it is handled.

Almost nothing is known about the plot. But hey, if you already wish to deny yourself the pleasure of playing a game that has potential to be great, this is your loss.

TBH, the dialogue system doesn't really bother me. ME's writing could have been better, but I'll say this for the dialogue wheel: it definately improves the flow of conversation.

Sometimes the options are a bit too vague or detached from the actual lines you speak, but it wasn't often. I like the idea of choosing by expression or tone even better than choosing from a 3 word synopsis because it should hold truer to my intent as a player.

Also, I was much more inclined to replay Mass Effect because I hadn't read all the lines of dialogue so there was more to discover. (Unfortunately with that game there were a ton of fake choices so there were relatively few differences.)

The key to dialogue is writing quality and depth of choice. The selection process shouldn't matter much as long as it's intuitive.

Joining the cautiously optomistic crowd on this one.

Torment. Huh surely when today's developers speak of action orientated gameplay/premade characters its not the norms set by PS: Torment they have in mind, don't you agree?

I don't know. The game is being designed by the guy who wrote the plot and the lion's share of dialogues in Torment.

Oh I see. Another one who thinks that Avellone's talent is horribly overrated, and Torment's success was pure luck. Ah that explains it...
