You will certainly hear about this elsewhere, but: today AGEOD and Paradox announced a new game: Napoleon's Campaigns II.

Based on the Clausewitz engine o_O

Not surprisingly, the community is in a state of despair and resignation. But wasn't it almost clear this would happen, from the day they sold the company to Paradox ..

However, it was also hinted that another game will be made in 2012, based on the AGE engine.
From what little I gathered it could be set in Rome / the Punic Wars.

It's the classical AGEOD's TB engine

It is a subject not yet tackled, and the fans will love it. In addition the game will come with quite a few scenarios and an expansion pack quickly, plus very interesting DLC's and room for more...much more

and, even more interesting, players and fans will be able to "influence" the evolution choice of that new game..

Looks more Hearts of Iron than Europa Universalis but I just don't really see the point. Hearts of Iron works because you can simulate blitzkreig, armoured encirclements and air power fairly well but I can't really see the Clausewitz engine doing a good job with the setting, when so much of the war was down to tactical brilliance and battlefield manoeuvres on a scale simply not shown in Paradox games (when all you can really do to influence battles in Clausewitz is shuffle reinforcements in and hope the random dice generator is in your favour). Plus that rendered map looks like dog shit over a hand drawn one.

I liked AGE engine but lets be honest here - its horrible. Not because it doesnt offer enough but because its badly optimized and extremely slow. Unless they seriously change it any games based on AGE are going to be unplayable for me.

Thats why I support this decision.
