A slew of Mass Effect 3 magazine coverage has been absorbed and summarised by the internet.

Non-spoiler information first, courtesy of NeoGAF.

Mass Effect 3 develops melee fighting and each character class will have a special move. An Engineer will use an Omni-tool fire lash attack, for example, while an Adept will throw people back and stun them.

In Mass Effect 2, powers were upgraded three times and customised at the top, fourth tier; did you want a wider impact zone or a more focused blast? In Mass Effect 3 a Vanguard can tweak Charge to first slam an opponent harder, then do more damage, then be used more often.

What's more, powers can combine - a Concussive Shot can work with Cry Ammo to freeze a large area.

In Mass Effect 2, enemies advanced on Shepard's spot of cover throughout the battle. BioWare will enhance this for Mass Effect 3, abolishing the use of a single hiding spot for each battle. And movement will be essential to tackle some of the new game's harder enemies, as Shepard manoeuvres, undetected, to a rear blind/weak spot to deliver the fatal blow.

The opponents Cerberus will throw at Shepard include heavy troopers with enormous armour and Assassins with the same biotic capabilities as you. There are also Phantoms who wield blades.

But, don't panic, this time Shepard can do a roly poly. Or a commando roll, whatever you want to call it. Among other new moves.

Stop reading now to avoid story and character information.

I mean it: look away.

Your Mass Effect 3 squad will be smaller than your ME2 squad, which had 12 recruits. "We're focused on a smaller squad with deeper relationships and more interesting interplay in Mass Effect 3," Mass Effect overlord Casey Hudson explained.

"And we're bringing everyone back - every main character is in Mass Effect 3 somewhere."

Confirmed as Mass Effect 3 recruits are Garrus, Liara, Kaidan, Ashley and Tali (depending on if they're alive). Wrex sounds to be in the balance. Each character's equipment will be updated.

There are apparently no new romance options in Mass Effect 3. BioWare revealed that 70 per cent of Mass Effect 2 gamers weren't loyal to their Mass Effect 1 love interest. And this will have repercussions in Mass Effect 3.

Shepard has become an enemy of Cerberus because Shepard joined the Alliance. Why did Shepard do that? Because Cerberus is working with the Reapers. Why? We don't yet know.

Throughout Mass Effect 3, Shepard will venture to the homeworlds the Asari, Turians, Salarians and Quarians. And, of course, Shepard will explore Earth, including a Seattle-Vancouver mega-city before and after a Reaper attack. Shepard will also explore Mars.

Finally, the biggest spoiler.

Stop looking.

Shepard can pilot a 50-foot Cerberus Atlas mech. And he'll need firepower like this when fighting a 600-foot Reaper on one of the massive levels.

The scale of Mass Effect 3, BioWare said, will dwarf not only previous Mass Effect games, but also anything Unreal Engine 3 has been used for.

My God! You can't build game on that type of statistics, its just plain wrong!

Ps. ...and whom I am kidding...

Ps2. Wait... wait... they were not loyal, that's bad enough, so there must be consequences, but... they will have forced to be loyal or to be not-loyal? Maybe they will have forced old good monogamist relation with last save from me2? Tough stuff here.

Ps3. Also, I'm pretty sure, 100% of heterosexual gamers, observed obsessively Melinda's ass (or what was her name again?), so Bioware, what severe consequences should be? No more Melinda's ass, much more Melinda's ass, someone ass's assistance? Another tough rpg question wait for yea answer Bioware.

Ps4. Ok Bioware, Ps3 was cheap, scratch it out if you like.

I take that answer as option number 3 - monogamist relation with last save from me2. Good choice, sir, whatever or whoever that was...

In before discovering that Shepard has to punch the Reapers in the face to save the universe.

Not punch, headbutt. It's more extreme, it means his face is a fist.

Not punch, rape. It's more extreme, it means the hammer is his penis.

Yes, because clearly the thing you need most when you can propel projectiles with the speed of light is the ability for fancy melee moves.

Literally the only good thing mentioned in the article. Somewhat more interesting/engaging combat wouldn't hurt.

The opponents Cerberus will throw at Shepard include heavy troopers with enormous armour and Assassins with the same biotic capabilities as you. There are also Phantoms who wield blades.
My my, that Cerberus R&D department certainly works quickly. Didn't see any such tech with any faction in ME1/ME2. Typical Bioware style mob-asspull, yeah.

But, don't panic, this time Shepard can do a roly poly. Or a commando roll, whatever you want to call it. Among other new moves.
In my playthrough of both ME1 and ME2, I found the lack of Samus-style rolling around the level a huge disappointment. Glad to see ME3 will try to alleviate that somewhat with EXTREME Shepard-rolls.

Oh joy, pretty much the same squad as ME1. (See below). I'm trembling with excitement. And yay, they'll have ME2 companions handle EXTREME story exposition. :salute:

Confirmed as Mass Effect 3 recruits are Garrus, Liara, Kaidan, Ashley and Tali (depending on if they're alive). Wrex sounds to be in the balance. Each character's equipment will be updated.
Short breakdown:
Garrus: Whiny bastard, never took him along in either ME1 or ME2. Not an interesting character.
Liara: KAWAII LIARA-CHAN! Supershy alien that does not understand our human ways. Not an interesting character.
Kaidan: Carth Onasi IN SPACE! Not an interesting character.
Ashley: Religious xenophobe, strawman of both religious people and xenophobic people, not an interesting character.
Tali: KAWAII TALI-CHAN! Some kind of random space jew/muslim/roma without any people skills and no story arc to speak of. not an interesting character.
Wrex: Mercenary, character with a reason to be along for the ride in ME1, logical character. They'll probably make him an NPC somewhere.

There are apparently no new romance options in Mass Effect 3. BioWare revealed that 70 per cent of Mass Effect 2 gamers weren't loyal to their Mass Effect 1 love interest. And this will have repercussions in Mass Effect 3.
In the Grim Darkness of the future... there is only the holy matrimony of marriage for a space-opera hero whose kind traditionally couldn't give a damn whom they shags, as long as it has a vagina. Bioware style conservatism, yeah.

Shepard has become an enemy of Cerberus because Shepard joined the Alliance. Why did Shepard do that? Because Cerberus is working with the Reapers. Why? We don't yet know.
BIOWAREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE :x
Why the fuck have us work for Cerberus AGAINST the reapers in ME2? For fucks sake, be consistent in your storytelling. Bioware style asspull, yeah.

So, the quarians have a homeworld, no matter what you did in ME2? So in other words, it doesn't matter what you decided to tell the geth (Brainwash/destroy the heretics) or what you told the Quarians after Tali's trial (Peace/reconquer the homeworld). Bioware style C&C, yeah.
Shepard can pilot a 50-foot Cerberus Atlas mech. And he'll need firepower like this when fighting a 600-foot Reaper on one of the massive levels.
The most important question here is: can we grab collars with an unwieldy 50-foot Cerberus Atlas Mech? Also, why didn't they give us a couple in ME2? They could have come in handy. Bioware style asspull, yeah.

Mass Effect 3 sounds horrible from what I've heard about it so far, let's hope it's not too bad, I quite liked the campy atmosphere in 1 and 2.

as far as I know, only ashley and liara were both romancable AND appeared in ME2. ashley acted like a bitch and liara became a love interest only after the late DLC. of course players might tend to look elsewhere for "romance".

They should make love interests cheat on you with other party members. Or even leave you completely for them.

Other than that I agree with your assessment, Cerberus turning on SHEPURD doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Moron mode on/

You are kidding, right?! They should wait for me3 to earn chance for proper romance and do not running all over me2 looking for occasion to mate... Very disgusting. I'm very glad Bioware fixed it.

Moron mode off/

Right. I wonder what they mean by 70% of unfaithful players, if in reality none of available characters was romance'able (not without DLC anyway)?! Then with whom romancing 30% of loyal players...?! Is Ashey romance'able in me2? She can't be recruited, so she can't be... fuc... erm... romance'able? I'm bit of lost here.

if you romance ashley in ME1 and ignore those skanks in ME2 altogether, bioware might reward you for beeing a good christian. but who can resist mirandas tits and talis.. erm.. personality I guess, right?

You mean celibacy then... That's seriously deep. A funny thing though, accidentally Ashley is a christian (she believes in God, not sure about details of her faith). It's small world after all...

I think it's pretty straight-forward:

If you had a romance in ME1, and then indulged in a different romance in ME2, you're considered unfaithful.

If you had a romance in ME 1 and then ignored the ME2 NPC's ridiculously in-your-face attempts to get you to sexX0r them, you get a cookie.

If you made it through both games without any digital pseudo-porn at all, you're not Bioware's kind of player.

I know I'm repeating myself here, but I must say again... that's deep. That's deep. Nietzsche would love that too.

Ps. … and who said ME is not Role Playing Thingy... because I see up here serious amount of Role... Playing.
