Some of these FPS utilize "RPG" like elements like perks and upgrading your weapons. However, most of them are shit.

I need me a good gun porn game with leveling up and mods and shit. Single player only, fuck online.

Gun variety is overrated. Better have fewer but more distinguishable guns than one million with a different skin (Borderlands).
better have one million weapons with each its own reason to exist, like ja2 1.13. i could spend hours browsing the online shop *_*

Actually the few weapon types do feel different from each other (and even subtypes themselves - a machinegun rifle plays different than a grenade launcher rifle), the random bits are appearance and stats.

I'm a surprisingly decent mileage out of Ghost Recon Future Soldier - the game itself is lacking (shame, really, from what I hear, it used to be a decent series but they decided to take the CoD route, though not as obnoxious) but the gun customization is good and they all feel satisfying to shoot. Unfortunately, no levelups here.

Other than that, you can't really go wrong with Stalker for actual joy of shooting stuff (assuming that's your definition of gunporn).
No levelups here either, but you can upgrade the stuff which has quite an effect on the handling. Not to mention, good atmosphere if you're into that kind of thing.

Then there's Far Cry 3 which gives you a nice open playground to go negro hunting in a variety of scenarios, you get to spend some skillpoints and the boomsticks are customizable, but they feel a bit samey to shoot.

Borderlands is not bad, though I wouldn't say it's gunporn - it's all made up guns with affixes, more akin to Diablo than what I would consider proper good gunporn.

Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2 are pretty satisfying in the gun department, as well. Nice variety of real weapons each of which allow limited, but useful customization--usually just the type of scope you can mount, but I think some of the weapons allow you to add bigger clips or recoil control devices. And pretty much every assault rifle/submachine gun has variable fire rates and can be silenced.

They did quite well in the sound department, too--turn up your surround system and enjoy the thunderous reports of a H&K G3 at full auto.

Hmmm, gun porn with hiking simulation. I like the sound of that.

I can even play it on a console too! :patriot:

Sounds like something dnf would play.

Looks like another game to look at. Less hiking simulations but I have played some of the older Counterstrike games and enjoyed them.

Can never go wrong with JA2.

If you don't mind first person, I can recommend The Hunter. It's got gunporn, but is an expensive online thing.

I totally forgot about Rainbow Six, though I heard mixed stuff about the recent installments.

I also managed to forget Hitman Blood Money. It features quite a few collectible guns, and the main tools of the trade are quite customizable - which changes the handling quite a bit.
Of course, it's not a shooter oriented game, as evident in the controls, among other things, but its good fun to just crash the party with a machine gun, punisher style.

Already have Blood Money, not what I'm looking for.

Not sure why everyone is suggesting JA2 even if it's a good game.

To me, gun porn = large variety of real world weapons or weapons based on real world, attachment customization, and good sound, so:

Metal Gear Solid 4, Battlefields BC2, 3, and 4, STALKER, Rainbow Sixes Raven Shield, 3, New Vegas 1+2.

Battlefield 4 has some nice gunporn and customisation, too bad you singled out multiplayer games.

Battlefield 3 had better reloading animations. The Chinese guns and the AKs in Battlefield 3 had some badass reloading style but for some reason they changed it in 4.

Agreed on that point.

Not sure I would play Metal Gear Solid 4. Too much sneaking.

The actual shooting is an underrated aspect of MGS4; as far as popamole shooting goes I think its one of the best, in part due to the crazy amount of options you have - apart from the sheer amount of weapons there is stuff like being knocked on your back by enemies, and being able to then shoot while lying on your back.

Really?

I played MGS1 for the PS1 and while it had shooting, sneaking was the main aspect.

Ever seen 3 they've had a greater focus on weaponry, though even in 3 the shooting felt clumsy and under-powered - in 4 it's a viable alternative to just sneaking past everything.

The main aspect in 4 is movie, interspersed with brief shooting/sneaking challenges. I couldn't even finish it.
