Betrayal of krondor seems to have a user friendly UI, should i give it a try too?
I find the UI for BaK to be somewhat fiddly.
It's still fine, but it is missing some modern touches.

Give Fallout: New Vegas a shot. It has everything you're asking for. Well maybe not varied environments, but everything else. The one spot it might be hard to get into is that it's much more open-ended than the games you've mentioned (that I've played at least). So you might experience being overwhelmed or lost and not sure where to go or what to do. Just fight through that.Hi everyone.
I've been away from crpgs for a while, but that itch is returning. Not knowing what is available anymore, I am asking for suggestions.
I liked Summoner 1 and 2, Legend of Legaia 2, and Skies of Arcadia. I also liked Asheron's Call when it first came out.
I like a generally fun story (Summoner 1 was a bit dark for me, but the rest of it was great), the ability to build characters in different ways and still be functional, little mini-games (I liked discovering the recipes and combat moves in Legaia), and lots of varied environments. The story itself does matter to me - I like feeling I've just played through a novel.
I'm not too critical of graphics but 8-bit is probably not enough anymore, unless the story is so engrossing that graphics just don't matter.
Thanks for any help.
The two games every seasoned gamer should play are DEUS EX INVISIBLE WAR and KINGPIN - LIFE OF CRIME
Deus Ex: IW's story was not bad, but I remember feeling so constrained while playing that game and this sense of disappointment. I gave up about 5 or 6 hours in.The two games every seasoned gamer should play are DEUS EX INVISIBLE WAR and KINGPIN - LIFE OF CRIME
I haven't played Kingpin, but I seriously do have to agree about Deus Ex : IW ; that'd teach anyone never to trust the Internet Buzz, since it's actually a very decent game on its own.
Wow, I didn't know there are people out there who feel the same! The two games every seasoned gamer should play are DEUS EX INVISIBLE WAR and KINGPIN - LIFE OF CRIME

This. Just beware of ... interesting ... voice overs. For shit and giggle, also because you mention Diablo, Try Prince of Qin. Much better RPG, good system of crafting.
By the way I visited the other website RPGWatch but didn't stick for more than 2 mins since most of the users seem to be there for MMORPGs, JRPGs (I like some like FF7 but not a huge fan overall), console exclusives, etc.
