There is no reason to go beyond 100% at set traps, their power depends on your level. It caps at level 21 with 3d8+5 +20 poison damage & save vs. death +4 or instant death.
I don't really care. Also, I'm pretty sure I have my strength with me, because I have been using it recently.
And he will return again... in KoTOR 2.
Why does Irenicus always get to do all the fun stuff?
You slaughtered a whole drow city.
Oh, yeah, that was pretty cool.
He must be using improved alacrity, or something, to be able to cast at this speed.
Do I get this right? Is the dream woman telling me to hurry up in the most cryptic way imaginable?
Pretty much, yes.
I will hurry up when I feel like it.
Update #71: Devilry, part I: Getting Lost
Yeah, it's genuine human skin from genuine Athkatlan street whores. Wanna touch?
A litte bird tells me we are going to achieve a fighter level up very, very soon.
How exactly were you able to keep 20 reputation after some liberal slave exploding in ust Natha?
Magic.
These saving throws loook good, but we are still failing them surprisingly often.
We will be getting dagger proficiency next, for some minor backstab improvement.
Human Skin went into the bag of holding for the time being, so we are back to 75% magic resistance.
100 kills in this chapter so far. This stat should be significantly improved in this update, though.
And this is our inventory after some minor equipment tinkering. We are keeping the girdle of strength for now, as we are not going to encounter any golems in the third level of Watcher's Keep.
We also bought this from the Adventurer's Mart.
Nice.
And a few spells:
Best-named spell ever.
Hohohoho.
Cool.
I probably won't ever use this one, but it won't hurt to learn it.
Turning into an iron golem? Fuck yeah!
Good thing I am a fast-reader.
Told you we will level up soon.
1 HP gained. Fighter level-ups are really disappointing these days.
Good thing we have HLAs too.
Watcher's keep, huh?
This is what our readers have decided.
Should be interesting.
Seems rather barebones.
I think I preferred the demon from upstairs.
And he's gone into the portal.
Are you going to follow him?
Not if I have other options. And I do.
Speaking quasits spellcasting wild magic. I should have followed the madman.
Fuck!
Haha!
Shit!
A-ha!
Argh!
Die, fuckers!
Goddamnit, I hate this place!
Woof! Woof? Woof woof!
Aaaah... You can treat this as a training for your iron golem polymorphing.
Rrrrrr!
Grrrrarrr!
Aghrrararrarrr!
RAR!
Strangely enough, The Codex is stronger in his newly acquired form.
*snap*
WOOF!
Rrr!
Woof! Shit! Fuck!
Are you alright?
Getting there. That was trippy. Although I quite enjoyed the taste of quasit blood.
Note: they have not dropped anything interesting.
I'll keep going in the same direction.
We shall see who is going to feast on who.
Whom.
Why didn't I follow the madman? I should have followed him.
So tragic.
Death Count: 310
Loading.
Definitely should have followed the madman.
And of course casting here does JACK SHIT.
Maybe I can surprise them...
Seems like they see me anyway. Time to harden up and take it like a man.
Casting in this room is out of the question too, by the way.
Hardening up is not all it's cracked up to be.
Apaprently we are having a problem.
Death Count: 311
Load game.
They are killing me much faster than I am able to kill them, that's the problem.
Maybe I can try to dodge, instead of taking it all in.
Together with Armor of the Hart, this gives us a respectable -16 AC. It could have been -17 if I bothered to search for Cloak of the Sewers.
It works! They don't seem to be able to touch me!
I wish that ability lasted a bit longer, though.
Oh fuck.
Stunned = boned.
AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGHHH!
Or not?
I made it!
It is not over yet.
WTF is a velithuu? I'll check if it is arrow-resistant.
We have reached some really obscure parts of D&D bestiary, it seems.
Death Count: 312
Loading the game.
Seriously, what the fuck is a valithuu?
Do not even ask.
Let me check their fire resistance using my newly-acquired helm of brilliance.
Oh, fuck you! Fuck. You.
I have little hope this will help against their electric arrows, but it shouldn't hurt either.
Ha-ha!
Oh yeah!
When tactical thinking fails, critical hits are there to save the day.
Almost walked into this one.
I will skip screenshots with the rest of the traps by the stairs. Trust me, they were there.
Moving on!
There are fucking demons all over this place.
Some of them are devils.
Don't even start with that shit.
Seven demons? Fine.
I've killed much more.
Not at the same time, though.
Well, you gotta try new things!
Ok, maybe I should have healed before going through that portal.
Codexes (Codices?) are dropping like flies today.
Death Count: 313
Load-load-load!
First - healing.
Second - brosword.
And I think we're home.
Although I might need to kill them a bit faster.
That's better.
Yochlol? Who or what the fuck have I just killed?
No idea.
Just in case...
Hey, maybe this guy had a quest for me? Seeing as he was all talky-talky at first?
I think you would need to be evil for that.
Exploding glabrezus! Only on Codex TV!
You should not know what a TV is.
Exploding succubuses!
Succubi.
I knew that.
Oh yeah, I'm on a roll!
And what are these?
I will give this to my apprentice as a souvenir. Can't wait to see his expression.
Okay...
It's not really a trap if you are expecting it.
Were you expecting it?
I'm always expecting traps!
That is called paranoia.
I've died over 300 times in this game already. So, don't tell me about paranoia.
What were these potions again?
They were 'for later'.
Only two teleporters this time. This one looks promising.
Either I've already been here or this is some kind of cornugon suicide chamber.
You have already been here.
Let's check out the other one, then.
Ah, good, this is new.
They are fighting each other, I feel kind of ignored here.
Is that bad?
It is.
For them.
Kill-stealing like a motherfucker.
Stop cheating, this is dead magic zone!
Mwahahahaha! Slaughter!
Using the west-side teleporter has not failed me yet.
Until now.
I guess I can follow the madman.
What do you know, he's actually here.
This is getting old, every container here is trapped. Like, every single one of them.
This stuff looks important.
Ok, so it is two more gems to go. Gotcha.
Can I kill him?
No, you have to be a cleric with high charisma, if I recall correctly.
Oh, sorry, you said 'kill' not 'heal'. Why would you want to?
Why wouldn't I want to?
Let me guess, I need this scepter with all the doodads to fix it?
Yeah, like I wouldn't take it anyway.
Hilarious Bioware Writing(TM).
He has a point here.
See, that is a healthy viewpoint on paranoia.
Yakman might not be the best example out there.
tl;dr: We need to find two more scepter gems and a portal which the complete scepter opens. We have a journal which describes how to get to that last one.
Attempts to write quality fan-fiction end the same way. Or so I've heard.
Ah, directions. East until demon, then south.
West at the obelisk, then north. Easy.
So, let's check where this one leads to.
What. Seriously? He is living one step away from the exit and yet cannot escape?
That is so dumb I don't have words for it... Oh, look, loot!
Well, bards are useless, so it only makes sense that an item specifically for them would do nothing.
The journal said east? West? Whatever.
Oh, wait, I've been here already.
Maybe north from the starting area then?
Nope.
Ok, I'm pretty sure I haven't tried south of the tree yet.
Well, I didn't exactly expect strippers and candy, but sometimes life can pleasantly surprise.
Taking up on the succubus' offer...
...leads straight to the final area.
And since The Codex is immune to energy drain, we could get away with it easily.
But where's the fun in that?
Oh, they are exotic dancers, not strippers! My bad.
---
Next time: Can The Codex handle a succubus and a bunch of alu-fiends all at once? His masculinity has never been challenged like this before!
