Codex 2014 Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy
***TOP SECRET***

Clearance level: Black-6.

To: CLASSIFIED, codename BIG BULL

Subject: Proposed plan for interrim psi-defenses of X-Com operative unit.

Intel gathered by various sources (see file #PMD-412) indicates that some xenomorph lifeforms have psionic capabilities far beyond our own capabilities. These abilities must be countered, but until such defenses can be established (see file #PMD-096) or possibly used as a weapon (see file #PMD-074) we are forced to rely on the untrained natural abilities of our staff (see file #PMD-008).

By analyzing performance reports of our staff (see file #APD-Alpha) we have managed to establish the xenomorph's psionic "plan of attack". In brief, they seem to isolate personnel with the weakest psi-strength, and concentrate their attack there. At the time of this file's creation, we have positively identified the "weak link" in our psi-defenses as employee #53213665, rank Sergeant, name Big Nose George (assumed to be alias), hereby referred to as subject "PX"

By X-Com protocol, any such "weak link" should be purged from the organization immediately. However, due to X-Com's current lack of psi-potential personnel, subject PX is being allowed to continue operations, but under constant round-the-clock supervision (see files #SSF-123 through 126 and file #XXX-004*). Furthermore, Psi-division is working on a plan to use our apparent weakness to our advantage. A proper report will be available within 24 hours, but due to the sensitive nature of the topic, I thought it appropriate to bring this immediately to your attention.

In layman's terms, the plan involves exposing subject PX delibaretely to xenomorph psionics in order to occupy their psi-related resources. This should free up our other operatives to seek out and apprehend/destroy the xenomorphs with less risk to themselves.

To achieve this result, subject PX is to be stripped of all hazardous equipment immediately, including close combat weapons. Whether he should carry equipment that has been rated Harmless (such as flares and Med-Kits) is still unclear and under examination by Psi-division personnel.

In addition, one further idea has been proposed, either as a means of communication with the xenomorphs or simply a means of diversion. The idea entails that subject PX is to be equipped with a sketchpad and a set of drawing utensils, with the plan being that the subject can, either subconsciously or through xenomorph control, create images of whatever thoughts, ideas and/or instructions the subject experiences. Subject PX has already created a few images based on previous psi-encounters, most of which are included in the aforementioned file #XXX-004.

However, this idea is unlikely to succeed unless a "psychic message" is implanted in subject PX's mind. PSI-division is currently investigating methods to accomplish this, but included is a brief draft of the proposed message. This message would be instantly revealed to whomever would gain access to subject PX's mind.

DRAFT BEGINS:

"Hello. You have reached the mind of Big Nose George. All our armed operatives are currently unavailable, please try again later. Please leave a message after the mental image."

DRAFT ENDS

Your thoughts?

Commander's Diary, 9th March 1999

After another casualty free victory, High Command decided that is time to have some party. Soldiers, Scientist, Engineers - everyone had a day of from fighting alien menace. Finally X-Com stuff had good occasion to meet up in friendly atmosphere. Soldiers got drunk a bit and blow up our captured Floater Soldier, with few sticks of explosive. No that I mind, it was entertaining event, thought no for the cleaners. I better go back to the party, before I miss Stunt the Alien game, Squaddie Ashery picked the shortest straw. Should be fun.

Update should follow today

Found out why xcomutil isn't generating new ship floors per battle. You need to install the "Use Xcomutil battlefield generation" option. Its sneakily hidden as an option under a question that asks about terrain map randomization. Rather annoying because that randomizing world map textures option is something you normally don't want to do, but you have to say yes to that question then say no to world map randomization later.

EDIT: See this post:
http://www.xcomufo.com/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=242029426&view=findpost&p=182761

Apparently the "aliens help research" option is badly bugged in all DOS games and causes research times to be hugely increased beyond the intended amounts.

I mentioned this issue before update where I decided to not use random interiors at all. Indeed, it is annoying, since I don't like to have Antarctic landscape on desert. But BladeFire Light will change this in next (9.8 I think) version.

Uh-oh, lets hope BladeFire Light releases some update before we start researching them

Update will follow in few minutes.

dosbox2010-01-2918-11-26-07.jpg

America awaits! thought the price is scandalous.

dosbox2010-01-2918-10-42-59.jpg

Let's build a base! 2x hangars and 1xSmall, 1xLarge Radar. Later we get General Stores and try to use this base to shot-down any UFO. Later one maybe we will have another base like our previous one.

dosbox2010-01-2918-12-18-81.jpg

Time to get some Medi-kits, 10 should be enough.

dosbox2010-01-2918-12-55-81.jpg

Every moth I like to check what country is most molested by UFO activity, and it seems Australia has some, going higher and higher. Currently we can't do nothing about it.

dosbox2010-01-2918-14-14-89.jpg

Small UFO shows in Europe, I was almost sure it tried to locate Codexia location, but instead it wandered to Asia. Interceptor took care of it.

dosbox2010-01-2918-15-39-32.jpg

Let's hope The Medi-kits will save many comrades. Time go back to Lazor Tanks!

dosbox2010-01-2918-19-49-93.jpg

Small UFO this time. We shot it down in Deutschland territorial, ja. Squaddies and Rookies take care of this.

dosbox2010-01-2918-30-31-39.jpg

Not bad landing zone, lets hope there is no Alien in those huts, or else we get some lolzy casualties.

dosbox2010-01-2918-34-40-23.jpg

Lazor Tank spots first one during leaving the Skyranger. BSB Floater is dead after two shots (honestly, I don't know how the fuck Fraps did this and another screenshot so large).

dosbox2010-01-2918-36-15-43.jpg

Luzur covers south part, lightbane is going to check out huts. Ashery is near the bridge, aiming his lethal cannon ahead. Rest of soldiers take cover in case if some random shot gets inside Skyranger.

dosbox2010-01-2919-13-33-81.jpg

Second one spotted.

dosbox2010-01-2919-13-46-21.jpg

It seems I was right. Overall there was a hell fire exchange with this Floater, thought no both sides missed almost all the time. Lightbane got once shot by the Floater, and he replied in instant kill shot. :salute:

dosbox2010-01-2919-14-11-78.jpg

dosbox2010-01-2919-14-18-79.jpg

dosbox2010-01-2919-16-59-48.jpg

Second turn. lightbane has one fatal wound. Worry not, my friend Luzur as a good comrade will heal you up! Darth Roxor jumps out from the Skyranger, spiekkio is on the bridge. Lazor Tank wandered south.

dosbox2010-01-2919-31-03-12.jpg

dosbox2010-01-2919-31-10-73.jpg

During Alien turn, Lazor Tank gets badly damaged, and spiekkio spots another one inside the house.

dosbox2010-02-0221-45-10-39.jpg

Third turn. lightbane spots another one on the way to the house. spiekkio shots towards him but misses.

dosbox2010-02-0221-46-07-57.jpg

Lazor Tank spots his oppressor, and gives Luzur a chance to take Floater down. Yet instead of the Floater, Lazor Tank gets hit in the butt, for no damage. Lazor Tank also fails in aiming, damn.

dosbox2010-02-0221-47-30-17.jpg

Our dear friend Floater wanders around, let's hope lightbane will be able to stunt him down.

dosbox2010-02-0221-55-16-53.jpg

lightbane assaults the house and avoids Floater shots. Two Lazor shots and bastard is dead. Not bad for a cripple.

dosbox2010-02-0221-56-02-48.jpg

spiekkio takes down the flying Floater :salute:

dosbox2010-02-0221-56-32-25.jpg

Luzur's two aimed shots kill another Floater :salute:

dosbox2010-02-0221-57-03-06.jpg

Lazor Tank spots another one, sadly he couldn't take him down.

dosbox2010-02-0221-58-16-07.jpg

Ashery does a nice direct snap shot, yet somehow the Floater survived. Btw. Unlike our soldiers, Aliens don't receive fatal wounds.

dosbox2010-02-0221-58-42-60.jpg

Aliens turn and again, Lazor Tank gets fuck up right in the ass. Must be bad day for him. Anyway, he survives attack from both sides.

dosbox2010-02-0222-00-35-51.jpg

dosbox2010-02-0222-02-07-45.jpg

Sixth Turn. Ashery shots down nicely the Floater on barn roof. Thought you cannot see it, (Fraps failed few times in the row) Darth Roxor throw grenade somewhat close to the Floater hiding behind trees on west from landing zone. lightbane goes up the stairs.

dosbox2010-02-0222-26-12-14.jpg

Fuck yeah, we are going to assault UFO.

dosbox2010-02-0222-27-56-01.jpg

Eight turn. During moving forward to the UFO, spiekkio spots Floater between buildings, shit. Time to improvise soldiers.

dosbox2010-02-0222-29-04-78.jpg

lightbane destroys the building wall, and drills three deadly shots into Floaters skull :salute:

dosbox2010-02-0222-38-34-40.jpg

Luzur takes sniping position.

dosbox2010-02-0222-40-36-21.jpg

At the end of the turn, Darth Roxor throws Grenade trough the hole.

dosbox2010-02-0222-42-57-23.jpg

Nothing happens during Aliens turn. spiekkio runs inside, spots one, misses all the time horribly. Same goes for the Tank. poocolator gets closer, ready to assault in next turn.

dosbox2010-02-0222-43-41-06.jpg

spekkio re-enters UFO and spots two Floaters this time. Takes them nicely with snap shots.

dosbox2010-02-0222-44-29-60.jpg

spiekkio again, with faith re-enters UFO deeps and guess what, we got another Floater. This time poocolator gets the honour to kill alien scum.

dosbox2010-02-0222-46-44-04.jpg

14 turn, and it seems we got lost sheep somewhere outside UFO. Luzur turns around and bingo! Satori scores a first kill on first mission :smug:

dosbox2010-02-0222-47-18-85.jpg

Not bad. lightbane will spend 4 days in the hospital and we need to buy some Grenades.

dosbox2010-02-0223-02-26-29.jpg

:)

dosbox2010-02-0223-01-28-20.jpg

dosbox2010-02-0223-03-12-20.jpg

Four hours later we have another small UFO on Radar. We lost it after some time thought.

dosbox2010-02-0223-04-06-96.jpg

dosbox2010-02-0223-06-03-56.jpg

This time larger one, goes for far east. Interceptor didn't have enough fuel to continue pursuit.

dosbox2010-02-0223-09-27-23.jpg

At last, we have Personal Armours. Let's hope it decreases somehow deaths among our troops. Currently it will take 8 days to produce 10.

dosbox2010-02-0223-10-16-43.jpg

US fuckin A finished building Small Radar, time for two General Stores. Also we order moar and moar Engineers, to speed up Person Armour production.

dosbox2010-02-0223-12-19-48.jpg

dosbox2010-02-0223-12-38-56.jpg

dosbox2010-02-0223-13-14-45.jpg

Ladies and Gentlemen's, this is Aliens Battleship, the most toughest SOB around here. There is no fucking way we could take him down, so we retreat one Interceptor and let another one to follow it. Obviously, it tries to find location of Codexia. Few days later we had ANOTHER BS scouting Europe.

dosbox2010-02-0223-13-41-42.jpg

Our first Alien autopsy is ready. Since we got Floater Soldier, I try to research Heavy Plasma.

dosbox2010-02-0223-18-17-87.jpg

Large ship in America and we can't do nothing about it.

dosbox2010-02-0223-24-26-32.jpg

dosbox2010-02-0223-24-51-32.jpg

In the same time we have two small UFOs in Asia. Interceptor-1 shoots down one to the sea and another one somewhere in China.

dosbox2010-02-0223-23-06-46.jpg

Australia areas are doomed! seriously, we are going to get some funds cuts from them.

dosbox2010-02-0223-25-15-75.jpg

Our first, tru night Terror Mission. Good that all troops have Personal Armours, time to try them out.

dosbox2010-02-0223-37-39-67.jpg

We spot the first one Alien... in the next update we will see, if Codexia soldiers have real guts to fight Alien scum's at night, when Civilians run around and scream for help.

That's a double negative, meaning that you can do something about it. What you want to say is that you can't do anything about it.

Ahh, personal armor. It gives such hope to the soldiers, yet they honestly end up dieing the same anyway.

No, what I mean is that you don't need to do the thing that randomizes landscape to have randomized UFO terrain every battle. If you say yes to that option, you are asked a further question whether to randomize landscape. Say no to that, then you can still have randomized ship layouts every map. It's kind of misleading.
