It doesn't seem to work.

LwkuG.png

I descended to the second level of Base Gamma.

I tried to use knife to get one more attack but hitting with knife was more difficult than hitting with pistols and I got wounded by the worms. Also, I managed to hit myself with my pistol.

I decided to rest a bit and went back to the first level.

It's like that thing a passing bee was talking about.

Would you perhaps be willing to restart the game, but non-ironman this time? Ideally, I'd love to see the game in its entirety... Naturally, there's no need to cover the parts you've already covered, so maybe you can just quickly make it to this point again?

I concur!

Or at least, you know, stat out your next iron man run to be more bad ass.

Well, I fucked up pretty badly  .
Still, it's tons better than when I would start out some 20 times and each time I'd die without a fault of my own.

No. I would get the empty feeling if the save wouldn't get deleted after death. I will re-start with a combat character some time in future, though.

Must be fun having to redo the same content over and over...
What content?

I mean all the content. The dungeon, the encounters, etc.

Forced iron man in a game with fixed content is just a terrible idea.

Oh, you mean the filler?

I agree. Still it could work pretty well in a game like Fallout when you can choose to go wherever you want from the start. Though, when I'll play a combat character the gameplay may be different enough to make it a non-issue.

Goddamn that's one smug game over screen. I mean, the UFOs might as well be smug-faces.

I'd also add that it's a bad idea in a game which is either:

1) A long solo game

2) Not a fast-paced game

Part of the reason why Iron Man works so well with, say, Liberal Crime Squad, is because you can finish the game in a matter of hours, and even if you die it won't be a big deal to start over. And of course, the fact you can play cautiously and avoid putting yourself to the whim of dice rolls.

And of course, being a very random and freeform game helps a lot.
