IX. Tank combat

We start this episode with someone who had little to do last round al-Helli, now moving in support of the group preparing the way for the medics...

Oh boy ! Terrorists with RPG were hidden behind a stone wall. That was close !



Ah crap !


There was a second one. al-Helli, his buddy, his recoiless rifle and his ATGM are all gone. At this distance, the terrorist who made that shot possibly as well.

The terrorists are immediately engaged by Dayyalu and SmartCheetah :

They are missed, but not only are they not deterred, but they shoot back at SmartCheetah :

Hit ! But no damage.

SmartCheetah and Dayyālu put some distance between them and the RPG, and the terrorists disappear from view, probably still hidden.

Meanwhile, Imam Draco (aka Commissar Draco) moves toward the T-55, replacing its HE shell by firing it opportunistically at the building, killing a militant.

On the other side of the road, Dayyalu and Endemic are engaging the infantry. An heavy shell shot from terrorist heavy artillery lands dangerously close to Imam Draco :

Imam Draco shots its first shell toward the T-55, hitting it, but not destroying it.

Meawhile, Dayyalu and Endemic carries on cleaning, while Sukhāvatī is shooting at the couple buildings that is the next infantry target (the big infantry compound is actually out of range).

As Endemic stated, the T72A is mostly immune to T55 shells from the front, at least in theory.

Imam Draco hits the T-55 again, but no significant damage. Meanwhile, the infantry is getting on the front building.

Meanwhile, the "escort the IFB group", sans al-Helli, is deploying in the small compound that had been cleaned up from enemy defense by tank HE shell and RPO rockets. The building is empty.

vazha exits the BTR-80, and his men spots a small group of vehicles in the village in front of them :

They hide next to a wall and deploy their ATGM

Small interlude - here are Mondblut's rockets arriving :

One vehicle destroyed (probably the Technical), one unknown one damage [the game sends you status report for units you don't see, which is nice when you counter-battery], and probably countless dead soldiers.

Meanwhile, Imam Draco is still engaged in his shooting match with the T-55. Both shoot at the same time, and they miss each other :

Dayyalu, having killed the infantry with Endemic, arrives on the scene :

Note that in this engagement, Imam Draco managed to shoot 5 times while the T-55 shot 3 times. Technology marched on.

Dayyalu is disappointed that someone that was not him killed Abdu Adbullah. Strange Farouwk is disappointed to arrive to late to the party, fully reloaded :

Happily enough, there is another target - a technical :

Back to the special force. Out of camera, Vazha has sent a first missile it hit a litteral thrash container in the middle of the village, blowing it up.

A technical moved between two streets, and is immediately fire from Kalarion, SmartCheetah, Vazha and even darkpatriot small arms :

Just in time ! The medical BMP-1, which is actually a BMP-1 WITH AN MOUNTED ATGM LAUNCHER (something that not even Endemic has !) is arriving :

As Kalarian advances to spot enemy infantry, a supply truck is spotted. Before I can stop him, Vazha decides to send an ATGM to the unharmed truck full of ammunition :

The BMP arrives at the crossroad, and is damaged by the enemy BMP that engaged Vazha previously. Meanwhile, it shoots at a fuel truck, destroying it :

That's all for the escort mission for the moment. Rolling back to the main group - Egosphere Catacombs and MoistCloister occupy their targets without issue :

The tanks - at least those not spending time on pointless side missions in a time of emergency - regroup, then move toward the base :

The building that was ignored is getting "solved" courtesy of the Russian Air Force :

And as I am now waiting for orders, I have to state that it shots in all directions with weapons that can PROBABLY not hurt the tanks, except the heavy artillery, still there. I could identify where it comes from and Mondblut may want to use his last salvo to counter-battery... except if he prefers to assist the base "liberation".

Meanwhile, I have to state that I changed Ar Rouksor order to make sure he has a MUCH faster ride : he is going to use the Russian car. It is red so I know it will go fast !

Russian Airforce obliterates ISIS infested villages in eastern Aleppo

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is wasting little time as its troops race towards the Kuweires airbase in order to lift the ISIS siege.

Meanwhile, the Russian Airforce is paving the way for the SAA’s advances by continually striking ISIS militants at the eastern Aleppo frontline, thus gradually driving the jihadist fighters back towards the Islamic State mainland.

The footage above shows a number of Russian sorties over the past few days, most of which targeted the town of Kuweires. These airstrikes will enable the SAA’s Tiger Forces to initiate its assault on the base.

A field correspondent informed Al-Masdar News that no foreign paramilitary units will be involved in the coming pro-government attacks on the Kuweires airbase.

Senior Palestinian paramilitary commander killed by rebel forces in Aleppo

On Sunday, Liwa al-Quds (pro-government Palestinian paramilitary) lost one of its most prominent commanders during clashes in eastern Aleppo. Colonel ‘Mohammed Al-Helli’ was killed while leading his Palestinian Sunni fighters on the frontline during initially tough urban warfare with Islamist rebel factions on the perimeter of the Kuweires airbase.

Mohammed Al-Helli, sometimes refered to as the ‘Godfather’, was personally decorated by the Russian military in early October following the liberation of the Handarat camp, a battle the colonel himself helped plan and which lay the groundwork for more recent advances.

Hundreds attended the funeral of the Liwa al-Quds commander which took place earlier today. As the photos reveal, Mohammed Al-Helli was highly revered by Syrian loyalists.

i'll cover the left flank of the advance, as indicated. Once the infantry in that cone are dealt with, feel free to rotate the BMP back towards the roadside enemies in front of Egosphere.

It is not the most realistic game either.

Er...I know this is the Syrian Army, but ambulance versions of APCs rarely have guns on them, much less better guns than the stock vehicle:

It makes no sense indeed. I would understand them using the stock vehicle as the game does not have "disarmed" BMP-1, plus it is Daesh so they are going to shoot at you anyway. But give an ATGM to the doctors when the frontline don't have it ? Makes no sense.
My rationalization : They are not doctors, they are some sort of special force who need to clean up something sneaky sneaky.

Well it's an easier fit for stretchers without weapons and ammo in the way. That's also why the roof is raised.

My guys will fire onto the enemy combatants to the northwest, making sure not to advance too much without support.

That BMP is shaping up to be an issue. ValeVelKal can my KV do anything to it? If I can I'll head up to the Y in the road and try to setup a crossfire with vazha and SmartCheetah . If I can't I may have to just keep moving along with the medical BMP and provide escort while they deal with those troops to the right.

Theorically your KV can destroy it. The problem is that the BMP can destroy you way more reliably than the other way around.

Sorry for the delay, but I have a bit of an ambitious plan for this turn, and it did take some time to convince the lower enlisted in the squad of the fundamental soundness of it.



1.) Clear this building during the confusion of the Medic's advance.
2.) Assault the sniper team, recoilless rifle team, and anyone else who gets in our way.
3.) With great courage and intestinal fortitude begin assaulting into and recapturing the airbase, destroying anyone who gets in our way.

Sounds like a plan I can't fuck up implementing !
