Some recent twitter excerpts.

They're headed to PAX East with a playable demo come the end of march:

Looks like a copy of Front Mission... Which is not bad as we need more FM. Why is this in the JRPG forum instead of the Tactical Gaming one? For not to mention Phantom Brigade is in the RPG one.
This has no annoying teenagers nor weird hairdos so it's not a JRPG.

where everything released ... from an asian developer can be discussed
Debated on where to post it and settled on here to save Infinitron the trouble of having to move it to JRPG.

Edit:

As more updates are coming soon later this year, we'll be sharing tweaks, insights, and stories to keep our fans in the loop and keep up the hype. We would love to share many things with you, so you can know how dedicated we are to this project and bringing you the grounded mecha turn-based tactics we envisioned in 2018.

In the first episode, Kris Antoni, the Game Director of Kriegsfront Tactics, will explore the basic foundation of the game that is comprehensible to our fans. Kris also serves as the founder of Toge Productions, an indie game development studio from Indonesia. Our humble beginnings that have garnered many fans from different parts of the world have enabled us to create new games and explore different genres, to the point we are now as we continue to develop Kriegsfront Tactics.

The first episode consists of an introduction by our game director, and how Kriegsfront Tactics came to be realized in the first place.
You will know our game design pillars, inspiration, what's to come for the future, and why we are creating a turn-based mecha tactics game.

Looks pretty cool actually. Probably the closest thing to Front Mission games we can get nowadays are indie projects like this.

Front Mission 1's remake got released a few months ago, Front Mission 2's comes out in June and they're working on a 3 remake simultaneously. Only one that is really "neccesary" is the 2 remake as the original only has a very partial english patch.
However there is little hype and the 1st remake didn't sell particularly well, most likely will put the series back into hibernation.

I forgot to include *new* in my sentence. I'm aware of the remakes but don't really care for them (other than 2) cause I already played the originals. Unfortunately the only non-remake Front Mission thing Square is doing is a dogshit mobile game, so only hope is for indies like this and PB.

Gotch. The mobile game isn't even Front Mission anymore - Square and the developer aren't working together on it anymore, so they had to quickly file the serial numbers off and make it an entirely separate IP. Now is called Mecharashi.

Didn't know that. I wonder why they did that. Did Square actually worry that it might damage the brand because they had other plans for it or something?

Played the demo - shit was so cash. The game is relatively simple but fun, I sure hope there will be some pilot/mech management part to go along with the tactical combat. In any case this is well worth watching.

Gave it a quick spin. Looked good enough that I deleted it so that I'm not left wanting for more, as the final game won't release anytime soon. The graphics though are intentionally low-res PS1 shit, and they could be done better even if they end up looking simple. I don't get that PS1 retro-mania (at least the most annoying visual effects can be turned off in this game).

TactiCon 2023 is commencing on Steam from 11th May until 15th May, where you can try out a selection of the best strategy games showcased each year. With a wide variety of genres such as deckbuilding, base building, tactical RPG, grand strategy, and turn-based tactics, there’s a game that will catch your attention.

Krigsfront Tactics features low-poly 3D graphics that will grab the attention of old and new fans of the genre.

Kriegsfront Tactics is a turn-based tactical mecha RPG in the alternate 1970s, during an era of conflict in Southeast Asia. Take a role as the commander of an estranged squad to survive another day in the signature jungle environment that surrounds Southeast Asia. This time in TactiCon we want to showcase the non-linear, dynamic gameplay of how the game will come to be in the final build. Updating from the previous demo, we hope to show more gameplay to excite our fans.

Bringing another layer of tactical warfare to the battlefield with a new pilot character with his mecha and weapon. It will be a whole new experience compared to our latest demo showcase, where we want to showcase the high replayability value of our level design. We highly recommend our fans to play the demo, and we look forward to your response.

Kriegsfront Tactics Devlog Series - Episode #3 Reviving Mecha Tactics RPG
Take a step back and embark on the journey of how Kriegsfront Tactics were made until its current development process.

Salute, Pilots!

Delves deeper into the history of Kriegsfront Tactics with the third episode in the Kriegsfront devlog series. Whether you're just joining in or have been supporting us from the start of the development, let's take a look at how it all started.

This Devlog is a behind-the-scenes series about the game development process of Kriegsfront Tactics. In this episode, we showed our development journey reviving the mecha TRPG genre, from when we started to our current progress. We describe briefly how all of the processes of how Kriegsfront Tactics become from its initial prototype, design update, diorama editor, and the recent combat demo. We are committed to bringing you the best of turn-based, mecha tactics RPG as how we envisioned it 5 years ago. We hope you enjoy our series and stay tuned for more updates that will come this year.

In this third episode, Kris Antoni, the Game Director of Kriegsfront Tactics, will briefly unfold the history behind Kriegsfront Tactics until its current development. As an Indonesian game developer studio, we put much of our vision of how we see mecha tactics games from our perspective and how we explore the gameplay we want by combining designs and foundations we are deeply passionate about. The backing from our community around the world that had been garnered from the different types of games we released also enabled us to explore new genres that we never made before, leading us to the creation and continuous development of Kriegsfront Tactics.

Watch the first episode here to find out more!
In this yet short, yet packed information about the history of Kriegsfront Tactics, Kris also will share the newest progression of our development with procedural world exploration. Look forward to how we implemented this feature later this year. These are six topics to be covered in the third episode:

1. How it started VS how it's going
2. Reactions to our Combat Demo
3. Enemy AI Improvements
4. Procedural world exploration
5. Environmental destruction
6. Skill activation and cinematic camera

Kriegsfront Tactics Demo Update - Destructible Environments
95a15a5770376271324535558a038554d8b37ff1.jpg

Salute, Pilots

August is a special month in Southeast Asia as Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia celebrate their National/Independence Day this month.

To celebrate the occasion, we’ve updated our demo with new features.

Destructible Environment
Your attacks will affect the environment as now trees and buildings be destroyed. Are enemies hiding in the jungle or behind buildings? You can bombard the jungle and remove their cover.

Pilot Skill Activations
Pilots will have latent skills that can activate during battle. This is still a work in progress but you can see some of it implemented, such as Shield Up and Evasion skills.

Also, we will be attending Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, next week. Visit us at Indie Arena Booth on Koelnmesse, Hall 10.2, booth F010g - E019g. Some of our Toge crews will be there, so please come by and say hi.
