Do you kill him in the mmo?

SUPER SWTOR SPOILERS BELOW:

Yup, you kill Revan. Kill him... repeat the mission over and over to farm him for a speeder I didn't actually want. And then... in an exciting new chapter for the galaxy, you join forced with enemies who are now friends and friends who are now enemies and fought his evil split personality ghost to save the galaxy from a deluded attempt saving the galaxy, only to be saved by the good split personality ghost at the end. It's as bad as it sounds, but I still played it, farmed it, and did the sithy romance option 6 times for 6 different characters. I'm a sucker. 10/10 will buy kotor3 again.

I can see one thing in KOTOR3's favor. I'm sure Bioware wants to make it a dating sim about picking up tentacled sluts in the cantina, but Disney won't allow too much "mature" and "adult" content. If Bioware isn't allowed to make porn they might actually try to make a game.

I want the sequel hinted by the ending of KOTOR 2, not a dating sim or Disney approved game. Shame not even (current) Obsidian would be able to develop a proper KOTOR 3.

Drew Karpsomething already wrote a book invalidating everything from kotor 2 iirc, so I don't think Bioware is willing to accept the fact that the game even exists. It's their very own New Vegas.

Current Obsidian absolutely would. What is wrong with you?

I'd love to see Avellone's True Sith, though. And many of the writers from KOTOR 2 would need to be brought back. People like Tony Evans, who did such great work on the companions in KOTOR 2.

The same source has now partially recanted: http://www.pcgamer.com/rumor-a-new-..._source=twitter&utm_campaign=buffer-pcgamertw

Update: Kotaku's Jason Schreier has now entered the fray with a KOTOR counter-rumor, stating that his understanding is that BioWare Austin "played around" with a new KOTOR prototype, but "it hasn't been greenlit and is not currently in development." He believes that the bulk of the Austin studio is actually working on the company's new IP, which Robertson also touched on in a Patreon post, that's expected to be revealed at E3.

Robertson now thinks that he "misheard some of the Austin stuff," and thus "may have misspoke about it," he told the site. "There’s also the element that I had no notes in front of me and just sort of rambled on from memory. I did not expect these few select statements to blow up (oops). I’m used to having the opportunity to just release follow-up notices on the Patreon with any updates and corrections. My bad there."

"Let me clarify that I don’t think KOTOR’s a current project. From the same people I learned about Dylan from, I did hear that they prototyped a KOTOR revival at Austin a while back. I believe it may have evolved into something else since then or fizzled out since then. I’m still confident Austin is doing something Star Wars related though and I’m confident in that."

That's quite a turnaround from stating unambiguously that "BioWare Austin is working on Knights of the Old Republic... something," and I should probably emphasize—again—that all of this is entirely unsubstantiated and subject to change, and may even be completely wrong. Such is the nature of rumors.

I liked KOTOR well enough but the fact that it's set 4000 years before the PT but the tech is almost identical always annoyed me, especially when I think how far tech has moved on here on Earth in the 40 or so years I've been around.

In any case, Bio/EA will no doubt screw this up - I guess optimistically we can at least hope for a fun meme fest ala MEA.

You have to keep time frames in perspective. The Sith for example, far from being ancestral enemies, have only been extant for about 20% of the Jedi's history.

Of course. I'd settle for the overhead view from DA:O. Just something a little better fitted to actually commanding a squad

The squad AI would be very basic, much like Mass Effect or Dragon Age Inquisition (or Knights of the Old Republic).

What I'm trying to say is, micromanagement was and will be completely unnecessary.

Why are Bioware even bothering when Disney made the entirety of the expanded universe, the games and anything that wasn't the first 6 mainline movies non-canon? And they did it all for a shitty film that entirely rips off the original plot, theme and settings of the original movie. It's practically the same movie as Episode IV, except with shittier main characters, shittier dialogue and shittier writing. EA needs to take Bioware to the burial pit and let the suffering end.

Yes, I'm not at odds with that, I agree. I just don't want to issue commands from a third person view. If I have a squad I would like to have a proper view of the battlefield

micromanagement was and will be completely unnecessary.

They don't need micro but sometimes I want to tell them what to do and I'd prefer to have a decent interface for it. In a game that's any decent length I get pretty bored just leaving the AI to do it's thing in every fight

You answered your own question. ;)

It's not about mechanics or technical aspects but what made KOTOR 2 feel like it did, how it picked the SW tropes and turned them upside down, added depth to them.

Let's hope that if they do RTwP again, they'll actually give us something of an aerial view for fuck sake. The KotOR and ME systems were awkward to the point of just leaving the team to their own devices most of the time
I tried playing NWN2 and it was worse. After rebinding the keys I was still getting motion sickness.

Also, Codex spoiled me on KOTOR2 plot, so I didn't end up enjoying it that much.

It'd be nice to see a KOTOR game made by Obsidian again, but I don't think Bioware and EA will ever let hold of the license.

As for the Bioware itself - I'd rather not see anything by them ever again, especially the KOTOR 3.

"Okay, so we tainted Dragon Age with II and Inquisition, fucked up Mass Effect with Andromeda, nobody really cares about Jade Empire, and Beamdog is currently raping Baldur's Gate. What other IP is there to milk-- oh, wait, Knights of the Old Republic!"

To be fair, they've been milking KOTOR for years now with their MMO.

So EA is putting biowares C-team on producing the follow-up to a game that a lot of casual gamers remember as a "classic". I can see this leading to hilarious places, much laughter will be had when this all comes crashing down.

I'd prefer if they tried something like jedi knight jedi academy but mixed in RPG into it.
It's about time to try out a new fomular for Bioware anyway.
