I don't understand the fuss, I mean the pillars of eternity system is clearly superior to AD&D.
AD&D is a musty old system that was so far removed from reality as to be comical, and unlike Pillars of Eternity it hadn't learned from decades of improvements that RPG mechanics have seen. I mean compare AD&D to 3.0 (3.5 was a bit of a step back IMO), and then to 4e and the game has continually improved over time. You simply cannot suggest that these archaic and ridiculous mechanics can compare to modern streamlined systems.
Perhaps before bad mouthing PoE people should try and understand some of the current and not so current RPG systems before criticising things they to not understand.
Except in Skyrim/Fallout 3 balance was the least of their problemsMost of the great RPGs people love are distinct in a way that, while they know that they can't make all choices viable, especially cosmetic things like speaking with dead or skills like Gambling, they still add them, which gives them a feel of realism and depth you can explore for years and still find something you didn't know about the game before. They take that risk despite possible balance issues.
This same logic applies to games like Skyrim / Fallout 3 .. just saying.. :D
Wait.. are you saying Arcanum just had some balancing issues? Low Quality Bait..
