As the title says. I want to buy this from GOG since I didn't get to it yet and it probably runs on my shitty laptop. Also, the setting is really interesting. Is there more to it than pew pew?

No it's not. Unless by setting you mean just theme and by theme you mean buildings and clothes.

Is there more to it than pew pew?

Yes, there's also cling cling and pow pow.

Edit: Also this is not a (classic) RPG by any stretch of the word.

I'm a huge fan of kung-fu films and generally like ancient Asia (not just China) setting, but I couldn't play this game for more than a few hours before derp overwhelmed me.
I'm still going to give it another chance. Someday. Maybe.

I've had this name on the old forum as well :P

Let me guess, Diablo 3 and Torchlight that have threads here are classic RPGs. The setting seems interesting and it is different than most (if not any?) RPG.

The basic idea and theme of the game is not bad. However the writing is very typical BioWare derp filtered through a Disney version of ancient China, and there's even more whiny melodrama than Knights of the Old Republic. The game starts okay but peters out towards the end as it was extremely rushed in the final chapter. Its characters are among the least memorable of any ever in a BioWare game, and it resorts to a very obvious plot twist gimmick which at first seems clever but is just sort of stupid and contrived the more you think about it - it's a cheap narrative trick and only works once, and there's little else of interest there once it's spent. Combat, unlike KotOR, is not terrible, but it's nothing special...just lock-on target and mash the attack buttons; the engine isn't made to do real action-style combat well. Overall it ranks as BioWare's worst game, except perhaps Dragon Age II (it's damn close).

The best part about the game is where you meet John Cleese playing a conquistador-type guy, trying to educate the "noble savagaes of the orient." Just YouTube that and you'll have enjoyed most of what Jade Empire has to offer.

If you want an Asian setting try Prince of Qin. It's much better in that regard than Jade Empire.

Read the last two Guy Gravriel Kay books. Slightly better writing than bioware with a better ancient china setting while still a dramawhore narrative.

This is the only bioware game that has a ménage à trois, or threesome, not sure
(i think).

This no reason to buy it

Only good things in this game were the gorgeous dark forest area and the one or two non-retard evil options.

Just go to deviant art and fap to Mission and whoever drawings. Or was that Kotor?

Idk, i never played any bioware game after NWN1 anyway.

Does this game use aurora like KOTOR? KOTOR feels so square-room/open empty spaces-like. Or is it a little more organic in its level design?

You may not believe me when i say this but, this game looks worse than KOTOR due to amount of graphical glitchs.
it's not as much about how it looks that makes me concerned. I just don't want empty aurora toolset-like areas.
