Everquest was my #1 game for many years and it all started in 1999.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 is one of the best games ever made and one I revisit regularly.

Planescape Torment was a fascinating journey. Worth a single playthrough.

Final Fantasy VIII was not one of the best Final Fantasy games but it was still enjoyable. I found out years later that one of the reasons I didn't quite like it as much as other Final Fantasy games was due to poor localization of the main character, Squall.

Grandia was a nice light hearted JRPG which I find myself playing in between more serious RPG's.

Just going off on a rant tangent here, but it really wanks my noggin wrong when I keep reading (mostly Nintendo and Sony fanfags) claim 1998 as "the best year in gaming". Compared to the early 90's it couldn't throw forward half as many Top Tier games.

Heroes of Might&Magic 3. O.M.G. such an upgrade over 2nd game I already love! More races, more spells and more skills. Sneaky AI, good amount of campaign and lots of scenerios. This is going to be a great year!!!

Soul Reaver, having such fun with that one. Combat is OK but dual world thing with puzzles is really my thing. Terrifiic voice acting! Such a strange turn after Blood Omen.

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, damn! A Civilization game in space with distrubing videos for researched technologies? Don't mind if I do! I'm going to play this all month!

Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun. KANE LİVES! With better cutsscenes and gameplay and units! Still love Red Alert more but this one is also captivated me because of heavy sci fi!

Homeworld. Another RTS!!MY favorite <3. But in space? With full 3D combat and movement?? Holy moly look at those space graphics and combat!


Age of Wonders, honourable mention. Got it a few weeks after my birthday, nearing 2000. At first I suck at it too much and Heroes 3, Alpha Centauri still calls to me so it'll have to wait a bit more.

There's some close calls with JA2, system shock 2, planescape torment, tiberian sun, alpha centauri. My main motivating factor is me being 7 years old in 1999, ja2 would have been too hard(I only played ja2 around 04-05 I think) and ss2 would have scared me. Torment didn't really compute with me until around age 11-12, although I actually had it back then bundled with soulbringer.

Kept it with 99 since it's boring to just list my top 5 games every time bla bla fallout fallout super metroid

FIFA 99 was my first fifa which I got after playing fifa 98 at my friend's house. I've then played 02, 03, 05 and 22. I missed out on the so called "golden age of FIFA" but then most people just talk about Ultimate Team which I have zero interest in. My favorites are 03 and 05. 05 made me upgrade to windows xp if i wanted to play it which made me angry because I wanted to stay at 98 SE, which IIRC still had native MSDOS support.
