Solmyr isn't that good, he was my main. Enemy might heroes were much stronger.

the point with Solmyr is that u can clean the map early with CL

tower start is easy, u just get upgraded gremlins, cast haste on them and use stacks of 1 gargoyle as meat shields

later u pick up Expert Sorcery + Expert Air Magic + Orb of the Firmament

Ofc u get offence/armorer/logistics on any hero, might or magic

Eh you need to rush AI as soon as possible at Impossible difficulty

why?

once ure past the early hurdles its easy

on M maps u might not have a choice and have to rush

u can do that with strong might hero + cheap town (cove, stronghold, fortress) or really strong town (rampart, castle)

hard to rush with towns that are expensive (tower), have no key units (dungeon), or weak (inferno)

My towns keep being recaptured and being taken again and it feels like there's no end to it.

Town Portal

until then u need minimum 2 developed heroes

pros use hero chaining to move the army around. the army is the hero

Personally i found stronghold to be the weakest, outside swamp areas and small maps

Noooo

Stronghold has great, great heroes and very good units

Its also the cheapest town

Some of the best heroes in the game, even their Magic heroes develop great (best of all Magic heroes of all towns)

It depends on map size, on small maps Stronghold and Fortress are very good.

Dungeon is so weak that honestly I would be ashamed if I were one of its so-called heroes. I'm glad I never have to associate with these filthy bovines who regurgitate their own vomit for entertainment other than to slaughter them with no mercy.

So how come dungeon is low tier, is it because of the unit cost or what am I missing here?
level 1: Trog: average, but then none of the lvl 1 units are exceptional
level 2: Harpies: overrated, and garbage without the upgrade
level 3: Beholders: Inferior to Grand Elves and Orcs
level 4: Medusa: level 4 is not where you want a ranged unit, growth is not high enough to effectively horde. Awful.
level 5: Minotaurs: The only Dungeon unit that is top tier
level 6: Manticores: Probably a little underrated. At least they fly, so they are better than Dread Knights.
level 7: Dragons: One of the better level 7 units but so expensive

So overrall, Dungeon's army is top heavy and oddly fragile. Having garbage units in level 3 and level 4 is a crippling disadvantage, and even Manticores and Minotaurs die quickly when getting gangraped. Having 3 flying units and 2 ranged units seems strong in theory, but the ranged units are in the wrong levels and Dungeon really misses having a tanky, expendable ground unit.

Trogs are easy to accumulate into a doom stack though

They don't really have any outstanding, cost effective units or heroes.

Dungeon is not low tier

but its not great either (as a faction)

I put it in middle tier (lower middle tier)

Reasons:
- its among more expensive towns
- has no "key unit"
- it has to rely on Magic more than Might

but for sure its fun, and u can beat stronger towns with skill (and if u get good high lvl spells like Implosion/Ressurection)

its really a faction for more experienced players imo
