Some have special ranks but it's only because they're either close friends of ours from other communities or game developers themselves, who may or may not be close friends of ours as well.

I won't bother to defend Saint from your accusation of his 'retardation' because I know he isn't, and he can probably defend himself better than anyone else can - not that he needs to, against you. Spazmo is one of the moderators/writers at this site, so I don't think he's invested anything in monetary terms (unless you count the hours he's devoted to the site) to attain his signature or his title, both of which are free. As for signatures, anyone can have them - including you. It's all in the settings.

I don't know what boards you've been frequenting but we're certainly not one of those that charges for these little things. Hell, as far as I know, we don't charge our visitors for ANYTHING. We're just here to write ,and you're free to excersize your freedom and ability to read and input your own thoughts and suggestions as you are currently doing. Bravo, Vectra, give yourself a pat on the back for excersizing your 1st amendment rights.

I didn't reply because I didn't know you wanted one. But, since I guess you do..

You're basically talking about a very subjective criteria for a contest, so sure, there will be disagreement on the winners. It's not something like Who can guess the number closest to the number I'm thinking of where you can measure the results of what people send in.

There were two criteria for the contest, how the character looks and one item for them to show off. Well, who's to say chainmail looks better than leather or vice versa? Maybe one rigging of chainmail might look better than another to one person, but another person might favor the different look. It's really a matter of the taste of the beholder. Steven D got high marks for having the golden platemail looking armor, for example, because it stood out. Malak got high marks for his pose. Billy B got high marks for situation. Hell, Billy B's was the only action shot we got, which made it stand out.

The second is the cool item. Well, what's a cool item? This is pretty subjective as well. Is the best item for a gladiator a weapon that does massive damage? Perhaps an armor that boosts his resistances pretty high? An amulet that gives him bonuses to his CAs? None of those is a clear cut answer, and how do you compare one to the other? Certainly there's a lot of room for arguing over that criteria as well. I'm sure the guy with the kick ass weapon is going to say that weapons are the best weapon for a gladiator, but the amulet guy's going to disagree, and so on.

Combine the two of the above, and yeah, there's a lot of disagreement that can go on. We picked, you don't agree, life goes on.
