In my view it's one of the best FMV-games. The actors were doing a good job plus the photographic depiction of the world feeled impressively real. The whole setting is rather unique, the story has good pacing and dramaturgy and is well written. The graphical representation of Bavaria made you feel as you were there yourself. Puzzle design had a meaning, the whole world seemed believable. For me one of the greatest adventures of all times.
I would like to add that I also really enjoyed GK3. I really liked the possibility to explore the different places with a free adjustable camera in 3D. And the storytelling aspect was brillant once again. I liked it so much that I actually went to Rennes-le-Château myself back in 2001.
I replayed both games some years ago and had a blast again.

GK1 was great too but somehow it didn't capture my interest with its scenario.
