At first I was utterly disgusted at this game, but then I reminded this was precisely the feeling I had when reading the first few issues of Berserk. There's something truly nightmarish about it, litterally - you can tell the designer is pulling out his nightmares and putting them out in the game. The whole thing feels like some big dive in the subconscious, from the enemy design to stepping on rusty nails. I thought the sexual violence was in pretty bad taste at first, but it serves to reinforce the horror. It is unsettling, so it works. This game is pretty much the equivalent of some one-man black metal band project or something, it's pretty great. The music, by the way, is very good. The lore is somehow coherent and very interesting, my only gripe was the typos (very annoying), but otherwise the world building is pretty great. Truly an aesthetic experience. It is also interesting how this mixes the powerlessness of horror survival with rpg mechanics - essentially having no level ups removes the usual dopamine dynamic, but it is replaced with all the randomized items. Something to look at for design that doesn't want to just have the player be stronger and stronger. You do get stronger in this, but you're always vulnerable.

I heard this rumor that the dev tried to run a CYOA game through YouTube and that project failed. Fear and Horror is loosely based on that CYOA.

A CYOA game would've been better, considering how the atmosphere, story and art are great, and the game mechanics tend to be bad.

Does necromancy get better in Termina, or does it remain extremely pathetic throughout the game?
