What's your favorite non-combat magic? You know, all those D&D Cantrip-style spells that so something other than kill, maim, slow down or otherwise help kick someone's ass.
First thing that came to mind was the RPG-Adventure hybrid Quest For Glory 4. There was a puzzle where you had to cast a float spell to get past a ravine. It's a simple use of a spell, but it always stuck with me. Reminds me of the Myth Adventure series, I guess. The X-Men Legends/Marvel Ultimate Alliance games do a decent job of forcing you to switch characters to get past roadblocks. There are fires that can be put out by Ice Man, broken bridges that can be repaired by Magnito, etc. Master of Magic had a ton of sweet spells, my favorite being Nature's Eye, which cleared a screen's worth of Fog of War. (Arguably a tactical advantage, but whatever.)
How about you guys?
