As annoying as Schreirer is being about it I imagine it's not hard to get vague info from multiple sources and have a hard time creating a clear "report" about it. Where "Borderlands-a-like" ends and "Rust-a-like" begins can be a shadowy definition. The no mods rumor certainly lends itself to the idea that you have to log on to a server to play the game though, whether you can "solo" play or not. You can technically "solo" play TES Online, as they have made clear in many marketing pushes over the years. It's still a fucking MMO though, just as this would still be a fucking Rust-a-like if it has a solo server option. That new Conan has a solo option but you're still playing an online survival game.

Of course the future is always online games like this with optional "solo" modes, so not a surprise. Starfield might be the same thing.

"We have fantastic news that we would like to share about F76 which hearken back to the oldest days of the Fallout franchise that is sure to please even the old crowds. In spirit of the original titles that spawned Bethesda's highly successful and critically acclaimed series, we are going to provide a more focused, rich and tightly delivered experience free of distractions and loose ends that will no longer require community created content to enrich the game experience for a wide spectrum of individual tastes. We promise you that the direction of our new Fallout game is such that it wouldn't benefit from community modding at all, as it will be one complete, encompassing experience. Meanwhile, we will keep supporting the modding community for all of our previous flagship titles as usual so the community can continue creating the fantastic content they have been making over the years and appreciated by all of us at Bethesda. Keep up the great work, guys!"

Is this copy-pasta or real Bethesda's statement? Yes, I'm asking unironically. They have blurred the lines a lot between the two...

The only "Bethesda statement" so far is that a game called Fallout 76 will release someday, somehow. Everything else is rumor.

Whoever came up with that copy-pasta then should be hired by Monsanto, Black Water or Bethesda ASAP. He has potential to be bigger Pete Lies then Pete Lies. He's got innate ability to serve you BS and almost convince you that it's delicious steak instead and that btw Todd Howard is 6' 5'. His grandpa came from Atmora, did you know?

It seems pretty safe to assume this is a multiplayer game that's like Rust in some way given this was called, with the name Fallout 76, in December of last year.

You know what, I'm not even gonna be mad it's a online game if Bethesda can make the creation engine works on a multiplayer game, instead of just having co-op.

That shit takes some serious effort to pull off.

Also the Reddit post shows that either Schreirer knows jack shit about the game, or about being cohesive, or maybe both.

Wasn't there some video interview posted in some thread here not too long ago with Todd Howard saying something like the reason there aren't cars in Fallout is because their engine can't handle it? If that Starfield game is actually something they're doing, it sounds like it'll need a new engine. And if they're doing a new engine for that, this might be running on a new engine too.

Starfield might run on a new engine, but Fallout 76 is most likely based on the fallout 4 engine, 90% of the assets in the trailer is the same from Fallout 4.

That wouldn't necessarily mean anything. They could be making assets in something like Maya or 3DS Max (probably not Maya) and have them good to go for whatever.

I believe one of those Kotaku articles mentioned that Howard said to them in an interview that of the two projects they're working on before TES6 one would be with the old animation engine and one would be with a new upgraded animation engine. Both would use the same underlying tech, one assumes. I would guess Fallout 76, coming first, will be the old animation engine and therefore pretty much be identical to FO4.

There's been a few racing games on Gamebyro so I doubt it.

So, there is Starfield, Fallout 76 and rumors of TESVI... This is a pretty unusual year for bethesda.

Fake news, publisher is sitting on a metric fuckton of cash from TES:O, bugthesda are year(s) away from finishing their next game. Yes, if TES:O would keep bringing money, there'll be no TES VI, btw. From little of what I saw, compared to Skyrim, TES:O is actually incline.

When you are in steep decline, the shotgun approach to making games is a typical panic response. In order to maximise the chance of a hit, they release into multiple genres and hope for the best.

The only reason pipboy is remotely interesting is when you set him in the horrifying apocalypse setting. Bethestardia does not seem to understand fallout in any way and just uses him like a cute cartoon pokemon.

Pipboy is the thing you have strapped to your arm. The blue jumpsuit guy icon is Vault Boy.
