People sure seem to like playing this game in third person. Is that a thing with Bethesda games on console?

Well, we have some PC pictures (Guess someone got careless with their review copy.)

Hey, at least this version has nice shadows!

I'll reserve judgement on that fact until I see some indoor screenshots with lamps and other things.

Strap Yourselves In Pathfinder: Wrath
I keep wanting to find something redeeming about the footage, but I cannot. All I see is Fallout 3.5, with further watering down of RPG mechanics. Perhaps the shooting and the crafting mechanics are decent, but the perks look like a god damn mess.

This does not warrant $60.

For a Bethestard, you seem to know too little about how Bethesda's new-fangled dialogue system even works. That should be:

Y = WHAT GRAPHICS? = Tell me more
X = NOT MY BUSINESS = Decline quest/Neutral
A = SUPPORT GRAPHICS = Paragon (positive response)
B = HATE GRAPHICS = Renegade (negative response)

This guy has it right:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout/comments/3a7w5h/i_noticed_a_pattern_with_the_fallout_4_dialogue/
I see a pattern:

  • A Button always results in a kind / positive leaning statement.
  • B Button always results in an aggressive / negative leaning statement.
  • X Button always results in a neutral statement.
  • Y Button is always a question or a request for clarification.
tl;dr Lrn to Bethesda.

Finally we have a Fallout game that lets you play as some sort of maimed / amputee character. My Johnny Eck run play-through will become a reality.

TwinkieGorilla Get in here. Let our hate become one.

Hehe. Give me a Codexian summary of thoughts and feelings. I haven't been paying any real attention to this game's release or this thread.

I do have an admission to make though:

As much as I fucking HATE Bethesda in the worst possible way, this news of "crafting" has the Falloutwhore and Craftingwhore part of me intrigued. Crafting focus in a post-apoc game is pretty much my all-time fantasy (see: Underrail).

Those buttons are color coded, so even a 5 year old would know that red is bad, green is good, blue is neutral and yellow for questions:

Wow 8 years since fallout 3 and they still haven't built a separate hand model for female PC.

Not to mention the females basically use a male skeleton/animation rig. Dem wide shoulders, doe. In Bethesda land, all women are trannies.

People sure seem to like playing this game in third person. Is that a thing with Bethesda games on console?

I don't get it either. First person mode makes Bethesda games look much better than they really are. Third person reminds you of the jank.

So much art

Yeah, it's bizarre. I just played through Skyrim recently so I can say without exaggeration it (mostly) looks better than this. I don't get what's going on. It almost looks like a texture streaming issue where it's using long distance/reduced detail textures on things that are close up by mistake.

This article is claiming there is a hardcore mode, like New Vegas.

http://wccftech.com/fallout-4-leak/

leak said:
There are six difficulty Levels and now hardcore mode similar to what was present in Fallout New Vegas. These difficulty levels however not only affect your enemies’ resistance to your damage, but also the chances of encountering legendary enemies which will be designated with a star in their avatar. These legendary enemies will drop unique loot.

Gah.. I hate their UI graphic design.

I'm also still unconvinced you can be anything besides the soldier / commando archetype.

Yup. Funny thing is, nowadays I can't stand even looking at Fallout 1&2 UI. Its seems so archaic with how much screen space its taking.

BUT, at least there was some clear, thoughtful artistic direction about it.

Them clunky buttons, analogue counters, that whole "really old computer" vibe. It really drives forward the idea that world was nearly annihilated and you have to resort to using outdated technology.

F4 though? This is just some generic sci-fi shit, with not a single intelligent thought behind it. Its like they went...yeah, we need HP bar, we need crosshair, we need this, we need that. Hey you, unpaid intern? Put this stuff somewhere on the screen. And make it green. People love green.

Even Fallout 3 had a more interesting UI.

That's a sentence I never thought I'd say.

I think it's green to match the Pipboy's monochrome green monitor.

Cherenkov radiation is not the same as radioactive decay.

Technically a fire and sunlight are radiation too, but still not radioactive decay.

Oh right, good point. I mean, that'd be absolutely moronic motivation behind making it green, so that's definitely the reason why they did it.
