How can you still not get it? Nobody here likes it!

You weren't around when it came out, were you? Or all the anticipation surrounding it's probable release?

I'm not saying people fell in love with it, but there was a sort of "Eh, it's shit, but I still put in 200 hours" sort of enjoyment. Sort of like Dragon Age or Mass Effect.

In 2008, the Codex consensus was that Fallout 3 was good for what it was. :M

It takes time for a Beth game to open up for what it really is. A boatload of wasted potential. Not that there are much surprises left anymore, though.

To be fair Bethesda did bring us awesome stuff like Daggerfall and Morrowind so they are capable of making good stuff.

I enjoyed brief parts of Fallout 3. Exploring certain places. My first subway station. A post-apoc Washington cityscape. Some landmarks. The suburban area. The scenery when you exit the Vault 101. Possibly a few more places. And a select few quests I'm sure anyone can guess which at this point. Everything else was shit.

I won't doubt that they could if they really wanted to, but I do think they have cornered themselves in a soft moneyladen round room with the simplified and flashy massappeal bullshit. That pays off so why take any risks with anything else (like broadening their design principles between different franchises instead of making the same game with different aesthetics and regardless of the franchise over and over again).

Says the newfag.

How much more do you want, codex? How many years until I can walk alongside the old farts? It would be easier to prove my loyalty to a Triad gang.

Yeah, and that's why this is THE RpgCodex. :obviously:

What's that got to do with anything? I've been lurking here for years. Even had an old account, but I forgot the password. :(

Do I think games like PS:T, Morrowind, or even Magic Candle were better ? Absolutely. Does the fact that there exists better make another game shit ? No : fuck you. Anything you guys can say won't change the damn fact.

It's a constant source of irritation here and the reason I don't post for long periods of time. Basically the Codex cannot into gradient enjoyment scales.

Actually they can, they all played Fallout 3 for a hundred hours, they just declare it irredeemable and unenjoyable shit after the fact because something is either amazing or shit here, never in-between.

Has been seeming to me there are plenty of games that are more or less "in between" around the years I've been reading this place ; Fallout 3 just happens to be Fallout 3.

Doesn't matter, though. Codex is Codex. Much more entertaining this way.
