Since the most recent Fallout 4 patch seems to have murdered everyone's mods, a nice gentleman named Zerratar has released Fallout 4 Downgrader which will set the game back to a previous version so you can enjoy all your mods again. It doesn't do much more than that, and this is version 1.0, but here's the feature list:
  • Automatically downgrades Fallout 4 to a version compatible with most existing mods.
  • Easy to use console application.
  • Open-source with the flexibility to modify or enhance.
Nothing like a Second Coming of Jesus Patch for a nearly decade old game which breaks about the only way a lot of people have to make it still play worthy. Way to turn something that should have been an easy win and turn that right around.

Mr. Sujano is where I spotted this. Good channel for mostly retro gaming news. He sometimes covers more modern stuff, like this downgrader, as well as the recent UbiSoft crap with The Crew, but mostly retro gaming stuff.

Fallout 4 still doesn't know how to render 3D:

Fallout Shelter Online Doesn't Know How To Draw Fallout's Women

BYPATRICK TIERNEY

Fallout Shelter Online features new art of known Fallout characters, but all of the older women are given makeovers to fit stereotypes.

Fallout Shelter Online is an expansion of the mobile game Fallout Shelter. The game was released in China in 2017, and will be releasing internationally in the coming months. In addition to the Vault-Boy-style graphics of Fallout Shelter, Fallout Shelter Online includes Hero Cards, which feature amazing illustrations of important NPCs from various Fallout games. However, while this new art is a great new look at some favorite characters, some of the female supporting characters bear little resemblance to their in-game appearances.

Apparently, many of the older ladies of the wasteland found pre-war moisturizer in Fallout Shelter Online, because they routinely look at least a couple dozen years younger than they appear in their respective games. Women that are middle-aged or older are almost unrecognizable. Senior Institute scientists Madison Li and Allie Filmore look like college students. Ronnie Shaw, Desdemona, and Proctor Ingram, established figures with the Minutemen, Railroad, and Brotherhood of Steel, all seem to be fresh-faced recruits.

The most egregious example is Mother Isolde, one of the leaders of the Children of Atom. In Fallout 4, she looks like one would expect an old irradiated woman to look like, and wears a full-length burlap robe. In Fallout Shelter Online, she has the outfit of the pulpiest leg-clinging fantasy sorceress and doesn’t have a wrinkle to be seen – impressive for someone who lives in a nuclear blast zone.

Although it seems like Fallout Shelter Online has a problem with depicting older women, the problem isn’t exclusive to them. Fahrenheit, enforcer of the hive of scum and villainy that is Goodneighbor, gets cleaned up by the Fallout Shelter Online, with none of her dirt or scars, but with crop top body armor to make up for it. Fallout 3’s miniboss, the AntAgonizer, goes from wearing 15 pounds of armor and a helmet for most of her appearance to wearing a form-fitting corset and tights.
Not all women in Fallout Shelter Online receive this treatment. Fan favorites Piper Wright, Cait, and Curie still retain their in-game appearance. Of course, these characters are already young and conventionally attractive. Overall, it seems like there is a pattern in how the game depicts its women that needs to be improved.

Ronnie Shaw is the only one of those three that's an issue, and only because her entire character is being "old and bitter" and she's obviously way too young in that picture. Even if it was supposed to be a young version of her, the use of the Institute Laser when she has a unique Gauss rifle is stupid. The unupgraded version is better, but still meh.

Patch notes looks like complete nothingburger and a very minor stuff, yet of course it will break everything. Bethesda don't like backward compatibility, which is weird considering that i would wager 50% of their sales is solely due to modding.

The only way for the Lying God of Midgets to sustain his divine powers is by torturing F4 and Skyrim players with updates and tricking people into buying Skyrim for the 99349439th time.

The punchline is that it finally fixes all the things that the Creation Club mods have broken in Fallout 4 over the years, while breaking all the free mods. If Bethesda were more competent, I would assume malice.

From what I've seen, it's probably well over 50%. There's quite a few people who will bring up mods whenever you complain about anything Bethesda has made in the last two decades. One of the biggest stories about Starfield was when that semi-famous Skyrim/Fallout 4 modder declared that the mod scene can't fix the problems with Starfield.

Honestly, I couldn't stand the story of Fallout 4. It was complete ass. I hated the factions. About the only thing I did enjoy to any degree was the settlement building, but that wasn't the vanilla settlement building that the game had out of the box. Out of the box, it sucks. You have to mod the shit out of the game just to make that one thing competent, let alone enjoyable. Walls and things don't even snap right in vanilla. You can't clear all the debris, which is stupid because I can clear this debris, but not that debris over there? And then Bethesda released a patch which broke your game if you removed the unremovable debris.

To be honest, I never finished Fallout 4. About the only story stuff I did was to unlock new settlement locations. I also didn't play that long. I didn't play it long enough to see that big settlement mod get released. SimSettlements? It's not easy to turn your back on Fallout 4 when the only thing you like is the settlement building but every other game that allows you to build stuff does it WAY better than Fallout 4.

Your ignore list.
  • Acquire the GOG version of the game;
  • Download all necessary mods;
  • Download and configure Mod Organizer 2;
  • Backup everything.
That's it. Now Fallout 4 is your to "enjoy" until the end of times and no updates will break your game.

I would advise against GOG, i know that SKSE for skyrim is different than for steam, so there are issues with mods. Just use steam, downgrade and flag appmanifest as read only.

Wow, the cards actually make the characters seem interesting. That diseased, decrepit, pox-ridden shit on the right needs to be scrubbed off the face of the planet.
The first 2D card is cult leader-y.

Meanwhile Nuka World DLC has this card style all around with Nuka Girl posters. Still the supposedly cult leader raider leaders are unkempt if not straight up furry xD
...
They just can't into 3D to save their lives (forget about keeping up with concept art) always some fixer upper hackjob.
Especially when they mention "dynamic" you should feel the ground getting hot.
