James' rambling statement was quite disappointing, he seems to be playing the victim card and this perception of reality:

"Gabe, you did say I am an ass, this might be true overall but that's for me to decide."

Is so fundamentally broken that it's hard to take any of what he wrote seriously at all. The whole point when someone's an asshole is that it's NOT for them to decide.

Anyway, I think the event is worse off for his departure. I don't feel at all hyped up for the games or the tourney itself, maybe I'm just tired of Dota in general.

The best part is that Gaben asked Bruno to do the firing (they are friend apparently). That's just vile.

Besides, James is a bit of cunt, news at 11. And was hired based on exactly that. Perhaps Gabe should go and count them fat stacks or something, instead of watching dota2 once in 4 years and ruin it for everyone.

Well, LGD vs OD game 2 kicked ass. That was seriously a masterclass in defense and timings by LGD. I usually hate 80 minute games but this was one of the best I've ever seen.

what the fuck is wrong with valve? who comes up with these shitty ideas? how can they treat their own employees salaries like some kind of f2p phone game bullshit
Thats just how valve operates, by itself and on multiple products and they've been hugely successful with it. People get paid what "they're worth", platforms like Uber or the google app-store basically copied this business model. It's really not a bad approach, if it were something else than signatures it may have been a huge success and noone would care. Seeing how they fixed the issue once they got feedback, that's how stuff is supposed to work in those cases. It was only once they dropped the ball, stopped listening to feedback and instead rode the high horse of "we know what we're doing" as evidenced for example during the mod fiasco that things turned sour.

Back to the game itself: I am really liking all these traditional carry-picks on the midlane, LGD already played gyro mid fairly often during MDL but having Sven/PL/Slark played mid vs the pub-star heroes like Invoker/OD is just great to see.

Minor distinction, the guys supposed to be payed with "signatures" were contractors not Valve employees.

Production is shit, however reddit acting like James can "save" this is just retarded. He deserved his sack.

Matches was very interesting tho

Yea, good games, so far EG vs col, VP vs Liquid were my favourite. Also, sick plays from Miracle and PPD occasionally.

It's a shame the event production is very shit. Good thing the games so far are great but these delays and pauses are really momentum-breaking.

Yeah, matches have been pretty solid. Lots of early-mid game aggression instead of Chinese teams farming for-fucking-ever into the ultra late game.

We'll see how CDEC v Newbee goes, tho.

Those ee misplays against eg were so cringe worthy.
And then speaking Cantonese in the interview was the perfect finish.

Some how w33 still managed to win the game despite all of ee's best efforts to lose the game intentionally...

PPD is going to [Thunder Strike] the media, [Glimpse] the illegals back to their country and build a [Kinetic Field] to keep them out.

EE had some misplays on that second game against EG but it's also part of the super risk split push, whole map coverage he does on Ember. Also, his performance on Spectre was awesome after a shitty start. They won those games because he played really well, overall, against the best team in the world today.
