Damn, I want to buy it, but I'm saving my money for EVE subs, maybe I can pick it up in a couple months when I start my job.

They avoid putting their new shit on sale but the older stuff is on sale frequently. Just wait a few months + after each piece of content it will come around eventually.

I got everything before the Old gods for like 19$. DLC are generally 20$. So I imagine the total value at the retail price is 200$? But all but the newest stuff is usually on sale.

I fell into the non-sale gap and ended up paying $60 for everything except map customisation and rajas. Its 2 weeks since and ive stopped playing already.
Not sure how to feel knowing my backlog does not get frequent revisits.

You sound a little disgruntled.

pun intended
If it cheers you up, it was cheaper than buying the game and all its expansions individually at full price.
CK2 $39.99
Sword of Islam $9.99
Legacy of Rome $4.99
Sunset Invasion $4.99
The Old Gods $14.99
Sons of Abraham $9.99
Total $84.94 (and I might have missed some of the other DLCs)

Its sort of worth it with the discount i got. But the game really lacks a combat module imo. Im sure im not the first person to say this campaign map combined with total war combat would make CK2 perfect.
Thats a dlc id like paradox to spend some time on and deservedly charge through the roof for.

I used to think the same thing too when I first started playing CK2, since I played Medieval Total War first, but then I remembered how I resolved all the battles on auto-combat since they took forever to load and sometimes froze or crashed the game.

Plus, CK2 is a grand strategy game and focuses on long term goals. The whole point of feudalism is not to micromanage stuff. I enjoy tactics and battles (Lords of the Realm 2 is one of my favorite games and I almost always played the battles due to the poor AI), but I feel that game developers stick to what they know doing.

Yeah, if you're playing Paradox games wishing for TW-style tactical combat, you're playing the wrong games.

Not everybody enjoys TW.

Well its personal preference. Im not suggesting they remove other features in place of battles nor force people to play battles.

Dont get me wrong I like CK2 for what it has. I just want a bit more and I dont get that perfect harmony from TW. Especially with the downward spiral CA has gone on of late.

It would be up to a third development studio to design a happy medium. I've long since given up trying to fight for Paradox campaign features in TW games.

It's not a matter of having Total War combat or not. It's a matter of warfare being completely lacklustre for a game that revolves 50% around it.

At least the pricing and content value are less laughable than sons of Abraham. 15$ is a lot for what it's worth still.
