Well, it's a bit unusual story, but around 25 years ago some polish studio released a HoMM2 ripoff with a bit of slavic touch. Apparently it wasn't that bad, I have not played it back then, but reviews on GOG are really strong, possibly as strong nostalgia of ppl who wrote them.
Surprisingly a proper sequel to the game should be released in a less than a week, also by a polish studio, not sure if any of original devs is on the board. Looks a bit cheap, but after 20 min of early access experience it is rather interesting. Definitely a labor of love for HoMM fanboys but with a splash of shit and a grain of jankyness.
