Someone asked me a while back about LOTR scenarios for Civ2/3. My scenarios seem to have disappeared from my hard disk but I will try to find them again for download:

Lord of Middle Earth - Civ3 Conquests

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=125895

Individual units for characters (the Nine, wraiths, Gollum, Radagast, eagles etc), must throw ring (special 1-move unit) in mount doom (nuke it). Frodo is an land-moving aircraft carrier and the ring is an aircraft. I think Sam can also carry the ring, but Frodo can't die. Very playable and quite well balanced Gondor/Mordor battle.

edit:
LOTR: War of the Ring 1.0 Civ3

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=218488

I may have confused this one with the first posted (Lord of Middle Earth). I think both use similar mechanics but one of them was smaller scale but worked better. In the better one the map also began mostly revealed. From the screenshots, it appears to be this one.

Try them both out.

Lord of the Mods - Civ3 Conquests

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=252286

This is a bigger mod but more like a modpack than a scenario, you get Civilizations going back to the 1st Age and many units. But there is no scripting, maps will be random (unless you manage to get the ones unofficially posted working, I haven't), and war/alliances will be quite bizarre. It's a free-for-all mod at the moment.

I remember the tech choices and buildings being totally reworked, and there being a huge variety of civ-specific constructions and wonders to build.

Your ignore list.
*screams behind some bushes and awaits for chaos to ensue*

Who cares about Civ3? Everyone knows Civ4 is superior in every way.

Now Civ2:

LOTR Trilogy by Favoured_Flight Civ2 FW

http://sleague.apolyton.net/index.php?t ... ngs_Series

Played these a long time ago, can't remember much.

War of the One Ring

http://sleague.apolyton.net/index.php?t ... e_One_Ring

Scripted war-focused scenario, clever, pretty good. I think Nazgul were turned into fighter/bombers with a limited range so you could slip past.

Dagor Bragollach (First Age)

http://sleague.apolyton.net/index.php?t ... gollach_II

I played an early version which showed a lot of promise, huge map, lots of units, AI worked the way it was supposed to, but was impossibly hard.

War of the Ring beta TOT

Hadn't seen this before, looks very good if I can get TOT working again.
