What's complex about, say, HoI2? The mechanics are pretty simple. The underlying claculations are kind of complex, but you don't have to know that much to play the game.

Maybe I was being a bit tough on Civ by saying child-like. No denying that the game has a storybook (the characture like portrayal of historical figures) quality to it.

I think I'm just bored of the history lite theme. Put it down to personal taste..
