Now that I think about it, Arcanum is also eligible. The amount of grind in that game... In fact, I can replay Bloodlines just fine. It's painful to go through some of the late parts but it's endurable. Arcanum, on the other hand... I dread to even think. I want to replay but the memories of the grind is holding me back. And the end game was rather uninteresting.

So yeah, it might be Arcanum for me.

What? There isn't any grind, there are plenty of trash mob encounters in the dungeons but nothing that really required going out of your way and grinding, for most builds at least.

I don't think your definition of grind in the context of gaming is quite right. Grind IS trash mobs. Filler encounters. Boring repetitive shit. The basis of games like Diablo or DA2 or what have you. It's the fucking grind. How can you get it wrong?

Alright, but there were about 5 areas in the whole game that you HAD to grind through, and with the right build/cheating the trash mobs can be avoided/made less boring

No mention of KOTOR 2 yet?

Oblivion essentially wrote a 5 Act plot but ran out of dev time. So instead, they just cut out the 4th Act. Which might have been a good idea if the plot was only about half as complicated as MCA laid out. All of a sudden you're at the endgame, bewildered at the amount of plot holes that just blew by.

Everyone's first playthrough should be without TLSR to see how utterly ridiculous the end comes across.

So Kreia ran off as a Sith somewhere and somehow? How do we know she's set up a temple on Malachor V? Will anybody ever explain what the Shadow Generator was except as some kind of McGuffin Doomsday Device? Why is my party split up? Why is the Ebon Hawk abandoned?

They have, J1M.

Anyway, Torment is the answer.

Mortuary? Interesting. Sigil slum area? Not bad, lots of good quests here, this game has strong promise. Sigil's underworld? Very impressive, and a few things here make the Lower Ward quests even better. Upper Ward? Wow, I thought they would have run out of good ideas by now, and they are still keeping it up.

But wait? Curst? This is worse than anything in NWN or NWN2, except for Vhailor. Ba'ator? How superficial! Carceri? God, this is nauseously bad. Fortress of Regrets? A lame puzzle, and a bunch of cinematics. Final part of Fortress? Okay, the game is back to its good ideas.

What kind of a game throws its best ideas into the very early and early part of the game, that you have 15+ hours of play in the opening section of the game, but rushes the mid-to-late section such that it occupies less than 2 hours and has uninspired content?

I don't know if it's the biggest drop off, but I always felt that Baldur's Gate 2 got noticeably worse after you went to Spellhold (probably because that section lacks all of the awesome sidequests that Athkatla has).

I know it's about RPGs, but since people cited Risen, I'm going to stretch it a bit more:

System Shock 2. Great game overall, but when you get to the final sequence it loses all the survival horror theme and turns into a run n gun shooter with crappy weapons. Also the most retarded ending cutscene ever.

That's Fallout 2, bro.
