Maybe he means 'Dungeon' RPG, because it's a first-person RPG. I don't know.

Anyway, Suikoden II has a nice opening.

The opening of Final Fantasy 12.

Quickly establishes the setting, the backstory, the major characters, and gets you invested in the plot. All in 7 minutes. The playable prologue that immediately follows is also pretty good at getting you invested. Sadly once you gain control of Vaan, the story kinda meanders for about 10-20 hours until getting back on track. Would've been interesting to see what the game would have been like had Matsuno not been shoved out of the project half way through.

Assuming we are meaning "japanese 1st person turn based dungeon crawler", then this one is perhaps not the best opening (I prefer the stills of the FM Towns version), but it has an awesome soundtrack...

I mean, no 1st person dungeon crawler worth it's salt is going to invest too heavily in an opening movie; it is just not really the right audience, given it is a bunch of people that like menus. To that end I really like the opening "Training Grounds" music for The Dark Spire:

and if we are just talking Dungeon Crawlers in general, it is difficult to go past the opening of the original Dark Souls...
