Items "power curve" is simply not a thing in D&D 5. You have +1, +2 and +3 weapons and that's it. You should get +2 weapons after 5th level and +3 after 11th level. If a bonus is higher than that, it is linked to a powerful artifact or something that you should never get before 17th level. The itemization and the power curve are the two worst aspects of both Divinity Original Sin games, with 2 being the worse offender. Larian has not demonstrated an ability to make items or their stats interesting, or have them otherwise involve interesting choices, or instill them with any sense of permanence or prestige. I would not expect much from BG3, and if there are improvements, they are probably going to be easier to attribute to D&D 5e than Larian's own ingenuity.
