Is there any mod or tweak that removes the priests and their effects from Age of Empires?

I really like that game but have never liked the magic part of it.

Anyone familliar with any mods of the pretty old Microsoft game?

I think you can turn them off in the map editor tech/building editor thingy stuff. It's been a while though so I'm not sure.

Thanks man. I've played around with the map editor quite a bit and while I think you might be able to make a custom map without them (can't really remember if that is possible) I am talking about removing them from random generated maps as well.

Can't find anything for that though I'd like it as well. Priests were annoying in the game.

I understand the concept (i.e. a new way of thought is introduced that causes mutinies/revolutions in an empire but in a real time simulation where seconds = tens or scores of years it's not very fun to have to micromanage this. Actually a function that slowed down their rate of conversion would be good enough.

So I guess no one really mods this game?

Apparently they do. Didn't look through it all, but they have balancing mods so maybe one of them would have what you're looking for.

EDIT: As to validity of priests in the game, I still don't like it. It doesn't make sense that some guy can yell at you through a wall and make you go on a suicide attack on your former people. I know I know, realism doesn't belong in games, but it still would drive me nuts.

Yeah it adds an annoying level of micromanagement.

Thanks for the link man.
