<p>Mr. Goodfellow's annual <a href="http://flashofsteel.com/index.php/2008/12/30/2008-end-of-year-strategy-wrap-up/" target="_blank">End of Year Strategy Wrap-Up</a> is now on display at Flash of Steel.</p><blockquote><p>Expansion of the Year: Europa Universalis III In Nomine: After the unambitious Napoleon’s Ambition, In Nomine swas a dramatic move forward in design, integrating both the alternate history model that they have embraced and the You Are There moments of historical decision. Colonization and conversion were simplified, the economic model was better, decisions and missions gave energy and direction to expansion, patrols kept you from retaking all your sea zones and, most importantly, multinational and multifaith empires proved harder to keep together, appropriate for the centuries where nationalism made itself heard and religious wars dragged on.</p><p>I opened the year with some anxiety about the direction Paradox was going. And, if you bought Rome on day one, you would have been as concerned as I was. (Seriously, why did people give that game <a href="http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrankings/launchreview.asp?reviewid=932856" target="_blank">such</a> <a href="http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/europauniversalisrome/review.html" target="_blank">high</a><a href="http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&ct=res&cd=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fjaguarusf.blogspot.com%2F2008%2F04%2Feuropa-universalis-rome-review.html&ei=skxaSZjzIZW6twfuprSlDg&usg=AFQjCNEWoAs9X0TxGhpXU3LXbaTpzdZWjw&sig2=ErDntZUiVxjPdwd-Civx3Q" target="_blank">scores</a>?)
