  1. Should stats be static?

Sort of, but not really. If you run a 6.0 forty you will probably never do better than a 5.5 forty no matter how much you train. You can become good at juggling but you can never improve your base reflexes, either. Slow muscle can never become twitch muscle. For brain it is harder to quantify...
  2. Should stats be static?

Things are more interesting if there's at least some chance to increase stats. In JA2 you couldn't really grind wisdom out and even upping the other stats was a slow process so it was not game ruining but for games where a small stat difference matter getting an increase every 4 levels like...
  3. What the FAQ?

    I had too much coffee.
  4. Games with GREAT details (for reading)

Martian chronicles? Is that the name? The ultima one. I found it quite interesting.
  5. Why modern gaming sucks (according to the Escapist)

Blobert you are right, as usual. I got a little carried away holding up Julian Gop as a kind of ubermensch but I think the same basic principal applies. It's easier but more time consuming to make games. Game makers are lower and lower quality until it's like movies or ad execs where the...
  6. What the FAQ?

My lawyer has advised me not to respond to you.
  7. What the FAQ?

I feel pathetic to even respond to a news item about an article about what amounts to some loser's fan blog, but it really gets me is how seriously this guys takes himself. I am the guardian of the holy canon of fallout! Because of me fallout 3 was a good un, because people list to me! I'm...
  8. Interview How Deus Ex 3 is redefining the RPG experience

I agree with this, times about 1000%. Maybe I look like a massive asshole to seem to pick on games like kotc or aod, but when I see people highfiving the amazing dungeon design of kotc my bullshitmeter goes off the charts. I like kotc but what I like more is reality. Truth. Not inflating...
  9. Why modern gaming sucks (according to the Escapist)

When ITZ comes and burning phosphate tears through my back I will look back to this time and miss it only due to nostalgia. Herp derp de derp.
  10. Why modern gaming sucks (according to the Escapist)

So what? That's irrelevant. The point is there used to be a lot of good stuff compared to now. Yes it did. Don't give me that nature versus nuture bullshit. I already pointed out that it's now easier than ever to get work in game industry. If your original point were true than that would mean...
  11. Preview Fallout: New Vegas Will Be Enormous

Isn't that 2 hours more than fallout 1?
  12. Why modern gaming sucks (according to the Escapist)

Even when you're right, you're totally wrong. How many times have I seen some idiot from modding scene become game dev or game "designer"? Not even counting AoD, the designer fellows are always some retard who says stupid nonsense 24 hours a day on a message board until he bamboozles enough...
  13. New Screenshots For French RPG E.Y.E

Man I love rpgs with good capture the flag maps.
  14. Why modern gaming sucks (according to the Escapist)

Because they are fighting for market space at walmart. If a good quality indie rpg ever got made conceivably they could go back to basics and sell it at the same boutiques that sold war game and rpg books, if they even exist any more.
