  1. Obsidian's Pillars of Eternity [BETA RELEASED, GO TO THE NEW THREAD]

He's used to dealing with contracts as a CEO, probably why everything is "IE games" this and "IE games" that. They pitched a modern emulation of an IE game and feel obligated to deliver on that to the letter, so nobody is slighted by the end result. Or so I think.
  2. Obsidian's Pillars of Eternity [BETA RELEASED, GO TO THE NEW THREAD]

+2 party member slots would be reasonable, and not expensive
  3. Obsidian's Pillars of Eternity [BETA RELEASED, GO TO THE NEW THREAD]

Don't quote me (well, or do quote me) but I think the 18-month thing is just because Kickstarter requires the project creator to put down an estimated date of delivery.
  4. Obsidian's Pillars of Eternity [BETA RELEASED, GO TO THE NEW THREAD]

It would be fun if they took some Wizardry 6 or Bard's Tale influence for the megadungeon, lots of trapped/cursed chests, secrets, even some scripted encounters where your party could all die instantly from pitfalls, or be trapped in a room with monsters by stone doors closing. Better not be 8...
  5. Obsidian's Pillars of Eternity [BETA RELEASED, GO TO THE NEW THREAD]

I would rather no TB at all than trying to make real-time and turn-based systems work in the same game and not break combat. Do you remember Arcanum?
  6. People News Rumor: Chris Taylor and Mark O'Green Back at Black Isle Studios?

Think so, but they would likely be all oxygen-wasting admin/desk workers living off Interplay digital sales on GOG and steam, they most definitely don't have any developers.
  7. People News Rumor: Chris Taylor and Mark O'Green Back at Black Isle Studios?

I thought Interplay only had like 8 employees...
  8. Bard's Tale trilogy re-release

I suppose then it's just the DOS versions?
  9. Obsidian's Pillars of Eternity [BETA RELEASED, GO TO THE NEW THREAD]

But there's also an argument for realism. If your character spends days and weeks fighting monsters using the same type of weapon, of course he is going to get more proficient with that weapon, how do you really explain that away without creating a gigantic hole in the logic of the game's world...
  10. Wasteland Wasteland 2 Pre-Release Discussion Thread [GAME RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

This reminds me that the mod tools for WL2 could be cool to recreate Wasteland 1 in the new game engine.
  11. Development Info Wasteland 2 Progress Update

I have to admit, he is a master of marketing. He gave no specifics and yet I couldn't help but feel all giddy when he said "hard-core RPG experience".
  12. Morrowind framerate issue

Try the "Morrowind Graphics Extender", I had terrible framerate in Morrow until I used it. It forces the game to run in a more recent DirectX. Edit: Oh, someone already mentioned it.
  13. Game News Project Eternity Kickstarter Update #22: Q&A with Tim, Cooking?, and Avellone Trolls You!

The only alternative is not funding these Kickstarters, and in that case the games would never happen. How Obsidian go about developing the game and how they spend the money is down to their best senses, not ours, and after the KS ends our part in this venture is over, the only thing left would...
  14. Game News Project Eternity Kickstarter Update #22: Q&A with Tim, Cooking?, and Avellone Trolls You!

Personally speaking, I like playing games, and discussing them too. And although tidbits of how games are made is interesting stuff (like the documentary they are promising) I don't really care for anything I'd consider a chore, and reading financial plans definitely sounds like a chore to me...
  15. Game News Project Eternity Kickstarter Update #22: Q&A with Tim, Cooking?, and Avellone Trolls You!

Mrowak How many backers of PE do you think actually want that kind of disclosure? I would be willing to bet most do not care about the financial specifics of how the money is allocated to development, they just want the game. They donate now, forget about the project except for the odd update...
