  1. Driftmoon

Just wanted to say that I've kept up with Driftmoon for a quite a while now and think it looks really interesting, a few quick points - glad to see the developer(s) posting here, game devs who interact with their audience are rare and appreciated these days. - I don't mind the camera angle...
  2. Review Avadon: The Black Fortress Review Bonanza

This is an example of Mr. Vogel's "new target audience" after all... I really enjoy Spiderweb's games and will probably give Avadon a go eventually as well, but I really don't think trying to appeal to those seeking Bioware Soap Opera with Stats games on the Spiderweb budget is such a great idea.
  3. How would a Total War game work in a WW1 setting?

I Love Europa Barbarorum (with some extra added mods to it, especially the Alex.exe mod that magically fixes some of the strategic AI stupidity) for RTW, easily my favorite game mod of all time. Have had a lot of fun with Deus lo Vult, Chivalry II for M2 as well, along with an old mod called...
  4. How would a Total War game work in a WW1 setting?

Also, I do think they once actually mentioned (and sorry I can't cite a source for this off the top of my head, it's comedy gold if it could be proven) that their "target audience" would simply be confused and unsure what to do next in the games if a constant state of war wasn't the norm. This...
  5. How would a Total War game work in a WW1 setting?

IIRC (I haven't kept up with this series really, Medieval 2 was the last I've played though I did keep up with Empire TW info as well when it was released) this is never, ever officially mentioned at all, except in previews for upcoming games saying (back when) "We know the AI in Rome sucked...
  6. How would a Total War game work in a WW1 setting?

I agree that the tactical battles would require a massive overhaul of the battle system. Given CA's track record regarding AI (more accurately lack of it), the entire world (depending on what side you picked, your historical allies included) would just go ape shit and declare war on you...
  7. So Total War

IIRC the "Kingdoms Grand Campaign Mod" is similar to Lands to Conquer and is said to have the best overall AI performance of any mod out there- unfortunately, like LTC, it's basically a souped up vanilla M2, and vanilla M2 felt more like whack a mole than Medieval 1 to me. If you just want to...
  8. So Total War

Dominion of the Sword isn't out yet but looks like it will be the Medieval equivalent of Europa Barbarorum (My favorite game mod to date), and of course EB2 is coming as well. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=492 For now, I'd say check out "Chivalry II: The Sicilian...
  9. So Total War

I REALLY wanted to try the Sango II demo, but on both my desktop and laptop (with different vid cards), when I start it the screen just garbles up and then the whole PC freezes.
  10. So Total War

The unintentional trolling on the same level of "Oblivion is a total RPG- you can LARP as a tree!" is what gave me a kick.
  11. So Total War

http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthre ... ost3565131 "wow what a waste of thread yo. if you dont like the game just dont even show up in this forum dude. this forums only for info and ideas for the game." - CA's new core sales demographic GhostRyder's responses when he finally...
  12. So Total War

Oh believe me, I posted it smack in the middle of the TWCenter Empire forum, and it was like the Bethesda forums right after Oblivion came out all over again.
  13. So Total War

Here's a link to an article I wrote and posted in the Wargamer forum that (long windedly) sums up my view on the TW games so far. http://wargamer.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=306912&high=empire I think the series was at it's peak with MTW, then just crashed downhill, as both Rome and M2...
  14. Good Wargames

The Squad Battles games that do have campaigns are pretty crappy campaigns, I think it was just Vietnam and Tour of Duty, and they were just linear small scenarios tacked together. I just play them for the scenarios themselves and a little bit of PBEM, they're well worth the price for the...
